Ben Affleck Explains Why He's Not Making Another Batman Film

Ben Affleck is opening up about why he no longer will be playing the role of Batman in the DC Universe.

The 46-year-old actor and filmmaker was originally set to to star in, write, and direct an upcoming Batman standalone movie.

Ben later decided to not write and direct the movie, then eventually dropped out of the role as well. The movie will now focus on a younger version of the caped crusader.

When asked by IGN to describe his plans for the project, Ben said, “That was part of the problem. We worked on the script, I was trying to figure out how to crack it, and I was never happy enough with it where I thought it was worth going out and making it because I just didn’t want to do a version that I wasn’t really excited by, so I still don’t know.”

Armie Hammer as Batman? That Rumor May Not Be True After All!

A rumor spread this week that Armie Hammer was rumored to be in talks to star as Batman in the upcoming standalone film The Batman, taking over the role from Ben Affleck.

Armie himself apparently just told Yahoo UK, “No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I’m interested. I don’t even know if they’re done – I think they’re still working on a script. I don’t think that they’re close to production but I can conclusively tell you that no one has checked my availability, which is a bummer.”

In addition, two entertainment writers from other mags are now saying that rumor isn’t true.

“I’m not in the business of debunking bunk but considering everyone got in a tizzy over this…there is no truth to the below. Being told there haven’t even been any actor meetings for THE BATMAN. (But that doesn’t mean Reeves and WB don’t have ideas of who they would like),” THR writer Borys Kit tweeted.

Variety writer Justin Kroll also added, “Yeah, that BATMAN rumor is false. That said, potential for this week to be very interesting on a number fronts. Sleep tight.”

If you don’t know, we asked our readers who they wanted to see play Batman and the overwhelming majority voted for Outlander‘s Sam Heughan.

Armie Hammer Rumored to Be In Talks for 'Batman' Reboot!

Armie Hammer is reportedly in talks to play the caped crusader in the upcoming movie The Batman.

Though these reports are not confirmed and no official announcement has been made, the 32-year-old actor is said to be the frontrunner for Ben Affleck‘s former role.

Matt Reeves will be directing the film and Affleck will no longer be playing Bruce Wayne after it was decided that the film will focus on a younger Batman.

We previously asked our readers who they wanted to see play Batman and the overwhelming majority voted for Outlander‘s Sam Heughan.

If Armie did land the role, this could explain why he’s spending a lot of time in the gym lately. Make sure to see his big muscles in a hot workout photo!
