Dolores O'Riordan's Cause of Death Revealed

A coroner’s inquest concluded today (September 6) into the death of The Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan and her cause of death has been revealed.

The singer, who passed away suddenly at the age of 46 on January 15, died from “drowning due to alcohol intoxication” in a bathtub in her hotel room in London’s Park Lane, Variety reports.

The coroner has ruled the death an accident, as there was “no evidence of injuries or self-harm.”

The level of alcohol in her blood was “four times over the legal limit for driving.”

Olé Koretsky is mourning the loss of his bandmate and girlfriend, Dolores O’Riordan.

The New York-based DJ and record producer was quoted in an emotional update on the D.A.R.K. band’s official Instagram following the untimely death of The Cranberries vocalist.

“My friend, partner, and the love of my life is gone. My heart is broken and it is beyond repair. Dolores is beautiful. Her art is beautiful. Her family is beautiful. The energy she continues to radiate is undeniable. I am lost. I miss her so much. I will continue to stumble around this planet for some time knowing well there’s no real place for me here now,” he said.

Dolores died suddenly on Monday (January 15) at the age of 46 in London, England.

Dolores O’Riordan has tragically passed away at the age of 46 on Monday (January 15).

Her publicist released a statement confirming her sudden passing, telling EW, “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.”

The Cranberries was founded in Limerick, Ireland in 1989. They released five albums, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? (1993), No Need to Argue (1994), To the Faithful Departed (1996), Bury the Hatchet (1999) and Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (2001), as well as a greatest hits album.
