Scarlett Johansson: Dylan Farrow's Essay on Woody Allen Was 'Irresponsible'

Scarlett Johansson has responded to the open letter that Dylan Farrow wrote about her father Woody Allen and calls her actions “irresponsible.”

In the letter, Dylan asked the 29-year-old actress “what if it had been you?” as she has worked with the famous director on several movies.

“I think it’s irresponsible to take a bunch of actors that will have a Google alert on and to suddenly throw their name into a situation that none of us could possibly knowingly comment on,” Scarlett told the Guardian. “That just feels irresponsible to me.”

“I don’t know anything about it. It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other,” she added when asked if the scandal had any affect on her relationship with Woody.

“I’m unaware that there’s been a backlash. I think he’ll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I’m sure the other people involved have their own experience with it,” Scarlett continued. “It’s not like this is somebody that’s been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, ‘I don’t support this lifestyle or whatever.’ I mean, it’s all guesswork.”

Dylan Farrow Reponds to Woody Allen: Nothing Can Change the Truth

Dylan Farrow has released a statement responding to Woody Allen‘s op ed piece from the New York Times.

In the op-ed piece, the 78-year-old director refuted any claims that he sexually assaulted his adopted daughter.

“Once again, Woody Allen is attacking me and my family in an effort to discredit and silence me – but nothing he says or writes can change the truth. For 20 years, I have never wavered in describing what he did to me. I will carry the memories of surviving these experiences for the rest of my life,” Dylan, 28, said in a statement (via People).

“His op-ed is the latest rehash of the same legalese, distortions and outright lies he has leveled at me for the past 20 years,” Dylan concluded.

Dylan Farrow Speaks About Woody Allen Sexual Abuse Allegations & the Backlash She's Received

Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, has opened up even further about the choice she made to write an open letter about her sexual assault allegations against her famous adoptive father.

“It took all of my strength and all of my emotional fortitude to do what I did this week in the hope that it would put the truth out there,” the 28-year-old writer told People. “That is my only ammunition. I don’t have money or publicists or limos or fancy apartments in Manhattan. All I have is the truth and that is all I put out there.”

“People are saying that I am not actually remembering what I remember. People are saying that my ‘evil mother’ brainwashed me because they refuse to believe that my sick, evil father would ever molest me, because we live in this society where victim blaming and inexcusable behavior – this taboo against shaming the famous at the expense of their victims – is accepted and excused,” Dylan added.

“Part of the reason why it was so hard for me to write the piece that I wrote was because once upon a time I loved my father so much,” she added.

Dylan Farrow's Brother Moses Defends Their Dad Woody Allen: He Did Not Molest My Sister

Moses Farrow, the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, has now spoken out that he believes the sexual molestation allegations against his father are false.

“My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister,” Moses, 36, said to People. “And I hated him for her for years. I see now that this was a vengeful way to pay him back for falling in love with Soon-Yi.”

“Of course Woody did not molest my sister,” Moses said. “She loved him and looked forward to seeing him when he would visit. She never hid from him until our mother succeeded in creating the atmosphere of fear and hate towards him. The day in question, there were six or seven of us in the house. We were all in public rooms and no one, not my father or sister, was off in any private spaces. My mother was conveniently out shopping. I don’t know if my sister really believes she was molested or is trying to please her mother. Pleasing my mother was very powerful motivation because to be on her wrong side was horrible.”

Moses himself made some accusations in the interview with the magazine. “From an early age, my mother demanded obedience and I was often hit as a child,” he said. “She went into unbridled rages if we angered her, which was intimidating at the very least and often horrifying, leaving us not knowing what she would do.”

FYI: Moses has been estranged from his adoptive mother for many years.

Woody Allen Responds to Dylan Farrow's Sexual Abuse Claims

Woody Allen has responded to the allegations from his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow that he sexually abused her when she was just 7-years-old.

Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon,” the filmmaker’s rep told Mother Jones in a statement. “At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court appointed independent experts. The experts concluded there was no credible evidence of molestation; that Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality; and that Dylan Farrow had likely been coached by her mother Mia Farrow. No charges were ever filed.”

The new statement comes just after his Blue Jasmine stars Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin, who were both called out in Dylan‘s open letter, responded to the allegations as well.

Cate Blanchett & Alec Baldwin Respond to Dylan Farrow's Open Letter

Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin have publicly responded to the open letter from Dylan Farrow accusing her adoptive father Woody Allen of sexual abuse.

In the letter, Dylan asks the actors “What if it had been your child?” Both Cate and Alec worked with the famous filmmaker on the Oscar-nominated movie Blue Jasmine.

“It’s obviously been a long and painful situation for the family and I hope they find some sort of resolution and peace,” Cate said according to journalist Jeffrey Wells.

“What the f&@% is wrong w u that u think we all need to b commenting on this family’s personal struggle? You are mistaken if you think there is a place for me, or any outsider, in this family’s issue,” Alec tweeted in response to a fan asking about the situation. “USA is supposed to be THE place where you get a fair trial. Can a fair trial be conducted w everyone’s tired opinions on the internet? Americans have fallen victim to a sanctimony about things they know little about. You don’t ‘defend’ either party. You defend due process.”
