The 26-year-old Treat Myself singer addressed her father’s health for the first time since news broke that he was struck by a car in a message to fans on Sunday (February 23) on her social media.

“I’m with my dad now. Thank you for all your sweet messages. It was all very scary but he is the strongest man I know 💖🙏🏻,” she wrote on her Instagram.

So scary! Meghan Trainor‘s dad Gary Trainor is in the hospital after he was struck by a car while crossing a busy street by foot.

The accident was an apparent hit and run, though thankfully Gary is currently in stable condition, according to TMZ.

The outlet reports that the accident took place in California’s San Fernando Valley and he was rushed to a nearby emergency room. Details about the driver who hit Gary are currently unknown.

Meghan‘s dad has served as her mentor throughout her career and has been by her side on many red carpets over the years.
