Kid Rock and Loretta Lynn… married?!

That’s what fans thought for several hours until Loretta revealed it was all a joke.

Over the weekend, Loretta‘s son had a vow renewal ceremony and her longtime friend Kid Rock was there. She posted to Instagram and said, “What a weekend! My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend. It was beautiful and everything it should be. Marriage isn’t always easy–heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness. Things got crazy then–my boy @kidrock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”

About 14 hours later, Loretta clarified on her page that they didn’t really get married.

“Well, it didn’t last long, y’all but it sure was fun! I guess I better get on here and let y’all know that it was just a joke— @kidrock and I didn’t get married over the weekend, but we had a blast,” she posted.

Lynn‘s granddaughter posted on Instagram that Loretta, 88, and Kid Rock, 49, “adore each other” and “joke around all the time about getting married and saying to heck with the rest of em.”

Kid Rock is mostly in the news these days for his right-wing political views.

Country singer Loretta Lynn has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke and has postponed upcoming shows.

The 85-year-old entertainer suffered the stroke at her home on Thursday night (May 4) in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

According to her official website, Loretta is responsive and expected to fully recover.

“She is currently under medical care and is responsive and expected to make a full recovery,” a statement read.

It continued, “Loretta, who just celebrated her 85th birthday, has been advised by her doctors to stay off the road while she is recuperating. Regrettably, upcoming scheduled shows will be postponed.”

Our thoughts are with Loretta as she recovers.

Miranda Lambert is pretty in pink while hitting the stage to perform at the 2015 ACM Honors event held at the Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday (September 1) in Nashville, Tenn.

Hosting the event that night was country singer Jake Owen. Both of the artists went through divorces this summer.

Also appearing at the event were honoree Luke Bryan (with wife Caroline Boyer), Jason Aldean (with wife Brittany Kerr), Kelsea Ballerini, and honoree Loretta Lynn.

“Sept. 1, 2001, I moved to Nashville with a dream,” Luke said while accepting his honor (via The Tennessean). “This day 14 years ago, I never thought I’d get let into the Ryman, much less accept an award like this. In this room, it’s family. And it’s family because we’ve got two things on our mind. We’ve got music we want to make and we want to give to some awesome, awesome people, the fans out there.”

The 26-year-old singer dueted with Loretta, 82, on her classic song “You’re Lookin’ At Country.”

During the show, Kacey picked up the award for Song of the Year for her song “Follow Your Arrow,” which she shared with songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.

Zooey Deschanel hits the stage with Loretta Lynn on Thursday (May 10) at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

The two sang Loretta‘s signature song, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” after the country music legend made a big announcement – that she had chosen Zooey, 32, to portray her in the upcoming Broadway production about her life!

“Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember. She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true,” Zooey said in a statement (via People).

No opening date has been announced for Coal Miner’s Daughter but producers said it will not conflict with Zooey‘s New Girl schedule.

“I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!” Loretta shared.
