The rape scene between Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider in the film Last Tango in Paris is possibly one of the most shocking scenes in movie history and now new details about it have been revealed.
In a clip that just recently surfaced, director Bernardo Bertolucci admits that Maria, who was just 19 at the time, did not consent to film the scene.
Marlon, who was 48 during filming, sexually assaults her using a stick of butter in the scene.
“The sequence of the butter is an idea that I had with Marlon in the morning before shooting,” Bertulocci said during an event in 2013. “But, I’d been in a way, horrible to Maria, because I didn’t tell her what was going on. Because I wanted her reaction as a girl, not as an actress.
