'Ozark' Showrunner Confirms [Spoiler] Really Died in Season 3

One of the deaths in Ozark season three happened off-screen, which led a lot of fans to wonder if the character is really alive or not.

Tom Pelphrey‘s character Ben, who was the troubled brother of Wendy, was murdered off-screen near the end of the third season. So, is he still alive?

“I love the fact that people love [Ben] enough to come up with that theory,” showrunner Chris Mundy said during a virtual PaleyFest panel (via TVLine). “I wish it were true. But it ain’t true.”

We have some good news and some bad news for the fans of Ozark in regards to the upcoming fourth season of the show.

'Ozark' Is Ending on Netflix, Renewed for Fourth Season

Ozark has been renewed for a fourth season on Netflix and it will be the show’s final season.

However, there is some good news for fans who are upset that the show is ending. The final season will consist of 14 episodes instead of the usual 10. The final season will be split into two parts containing seven episodes each.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” showrunner Chris Mundy said (via Variety). “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

The show’s stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, and more are set to return.

'Ozark' Season 3 Ratings Released on Netflix & It's Wildly Popular!

Ozark season three received huge ratings after its release date on March 27!

The show received an average minute audience of 975,000 U.S. viewers on its first day on the service, Variety reports. To compare, Tiger King‘s first day on the streaming service earned an average minute audience of 280,000.

It seems that the country wide shelter-in-place directives are helping the popularity. Compared with Ozark season two’s average minute audience after its launch on August 31, 2018, it only received a total of 314,000.

To compare further to other popular shows, the season 7 launch of Orange is the New Black on July 26, 2019 received 536,000 average minute audiences and season 2 of Mindhunter on August 16, 2019 had 395,000 viewers per minute on average.

Ozark‘s third season brought in an average minute audience of over 8.7 million U.S. viewers within the first 10 days on the streaming service, with a total of 16.4 million unique U.S. viewers in the first 10 days.

Netflix is teasing the return of Ozark!

The streaming site released a teaser video for the upcoming season three of the crime thriller series, announcing that it will be returning on March 27.

Here’s the synopsis for season three: “It’s six months later, the casino is up and running, but Marty and Wendy (Jason Bateman and Laura Linney) are fighting for control of the family’s destiny. 'Ozark' Stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, & Julia Garner Arrive at Emmy Awards 2019!

The cast of Ozark has arrived at the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 22) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner are all nominated this evening for their performances on the show, which is up for Outstanding Drama Series.

Jason is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Laura is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julia has a nom for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Joining Jason at the event was his wife Amanda Anka.

FYI: Jason is wearing Dior Men with an IWC watch. Laura is wearing a custom Derek Lam look. Julia is wearing a Cong Tri dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and Lisa Eisner jewelry.

Jason Bateman Wins for 'Ozark' at SAG Awards 2019!

Jason Bateman accepts his award on stage at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (January 27) in Los Angeles.

The 50-year-old actor won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his work on the Netflix series Ozark.

Jason was joined at the event by his co-stars Julia Garner (also an individual nominee), Jordana Spiro, and Darren Goldstein.

The full cast was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, but the award went to This Is Us.

Jason was joined on the red carpet by his wife Amanda Anka.
