K-Pop Star Ravi of VIXX Leaves the Band Amid Military Service Controversy & Issues a Statement

Ravi is leaving VIXX.

The 30-year-old South Korean entertainer exited the boy band amid controversdy, his agency Jellyfish Entertainment confirmed in a statement on Tuesday (April 11).

“Hello. This is Jellyfish Entertainment. We sincerely thank the fans who support VIXX, and we inform you of member Ravi’s departure from VIXX,” the statement began.

“After careful discussion between Ravi and the agency, it was decided that he will leave the team as of today. We deeply apologize for causing trouble to the fans who support VIXX.”

Earlier in the year, it was reported that the member of the boy band was being accused of attempting to evade military service. A group of brokers was arrested on charges of corruption, allegedly sending their clients to a neurologist for a false medical diagnosis to help them be exempted from military service. They promoted their services by saying they were used by a famous idol, revealed to be Ravi.

The first trial was held for eight individuals including Ravi on charges of violating the Military Service Act. The prosecution requested two-year prison sentences for Ravi, via Soompi.

He then posted a letter to apologize for his actions.

K-Pop Star Ravi of VIXX Accused of Attempting to Evade Military Service, Agency Responds

Ravi is facing some serious allegations.

The 29-year-old South Korean musician and member of the boy band VIXX is being accused of attempting to evade military service in new reports.

On Thursday (January 12), a group of brokers reportedly were arrested on charges of corruption to evade military service by sending clients to a neurologist at a Seoul hospital to receive a false epilepsy diagnosis, which would help them either be exempt from military service or get a lesser assignment.

K-Pop Idol Hongbin Leaves Boy Band VIXX After Live Stream Controversy

Hongbin is longer a member of VIXX.

The 26-year-old South Korean idol and boy band member departed from the group on Friday (August 7), his agency Jellyfish Entertainment revealed in a statement.

“First, we express our sincere gratitude to fans who love VIXX a lot, and we are conveying sad news. On August 7, Hongbin shared his intention to withdraw from VIXX. After careful discussion with the VIXX members and Hongbin, we are respecting his wishes and so it’s been decided that he will leave the group. It’s planned that VIXX will promote as a five-member group in the future. We are very sorry to fans for causing concern with this sudden news, and we ask you to continue to love and support the VIXX members,” they said.

Back in February, Hongbin made some critical comments about fellow idol groups during a Twitch live stream, finding himself in the center of controversy and causing him and Jellyfish Entertainment to apologize.

This week, Hongbin posted on Twitch saying he was preparing to return to the platform.

“I’ve been thinking that I want to be doing fun broadcasts again where we can laugh and chat while gaming together. Many changes have happened while I was taking a break from broadcasts. I’m still adjusting, so I’m a bit all over the place. I still don’t know how the broadcasts might change in the future as well, but I’m planning on doing broadcasts that you can comfortably watch while laughing and chatting like before,” he said.
