George Clooney @ Critics Choice Awards 2008

George Clooney flashes his million-dollar smile at the 2008 Critics’ Choice Awards held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Monday in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 46-year-old actor presented the Joel Siegel Award to his Ocean’s Thirteen costar Don Cheadle for his work “both on- and offscreen, inspiring and contributing to the good of humanity.”

Clooney, 46, is being credited with inspiring the actors’ boycott against the Golden Globe Awards.

Said one NBC executive, “We know Clooney is a major force behind this decision. He has been earbashing others who may have been willing to cross picket lines.”

It would seem that the master prankster’s plan worked! The Golden Globes were officially canceled earlier today by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007′s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television,” HFPA president Jorge Camara said. “We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled.” (The winners will be announced during a news conference at the Beverly Hilton.)
