OlderRenee Zellweger Smiles for Soliders
Renee Zellweger honors members of the United States military at the USO of Metropolitan Washington’s annual awards dinner in Washington D.C. on Wednesday night (March 25).
The 39-year-old Texas-born actress was on-hand to also honor Al Franken‘s 10 years of service with the USO, entertaining U.S. troops overseas. Al Franken is a Saturday Night Live alum and is currently in a legal battle with Norm Coleman for the Minnesota U.S. Senate race.
“Some of the troops knew I’d been a critic of the way we’d gotten into the war, and the way we were doing the war,” said Franken. “But in a way, they didn’t care. It just told them that everybody in the States supported them. It didn’t matter what your politics were.”
