OlderSarah Palin Resigns as Alaska Governor
Sarah Palin officially announced on Friday (July 3) that she will be resigning as governor of Alaska.
The 45-year-old, who was known as ‘Sarah Barracuda’ in high school, will serve as governor until July 26 before she hands the position over to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.
“We know we can affect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference,” said Sarah in a news conference in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. “I know when it’s time to pass the ball for victory.”

not cool at all….this is called giving up….people voted her into office because they believed in her….she should stay and finish her term….right now, she’s a quitter

Great move for the state of Alaska as she obviously can’t run it! Hopefully she won’t run for the senate or the presidency.
She’s quitting to prepare herself for the race to the White House . She doesn’t want to be tied down in Alaska while she’s preparing her run. She’s looking to be President Ya’ll. Obviously she doesn’t know what embarrassment is or else she wouldn’t run for anything after her Hoot and Holler show last year.
Why can’t she finish serving the people in one office before running to another? What a dumba**.
More money to be made not being in office.

I don’t understand why she couldn’t just finish her term and 2010. She would still have 2 years to prepare for 2012 run. Resigning after 2 years just makes her look like a quitter and won’t help her presidential chances IMO.

I watched her press conference. She’s stepping down because all her time is devoted to defending herself. She and her staff can’t focus on the positive needs for Alaska. She said over 2 million dollars of Alaskan’s tax payer dollars went to fending off attacks to her and her family. (personal attacks, etc.) She also said that she and Todd have spent a half a million dollars themselves on lawyers for defending them personally.
She’s sick of the rat race.
I think she’s stepping down for good. This has taken a huge toll on her personally.
I can’t stand her. So I think it was the right move..very gutsy.
Oh, she also mentioned why she’s doing this now..and not finishing her term…She thinks that the Lt. Gov in charge can do more positive things for the State of Alaska, and move forward. She feels as if her tabloid persona is holding back for the states well being.

Maybe there’s some scandall or blackmail we don’t know about. It seems odd to just quit like that. Hope her family is OK.

this sounds like someone knows a little dirty secret she doesn’t want people to know or republican party doesn’t want her in charge of a state when it comes out!!
while i think she’s kind of nutty, and she didnt say exactly why she was resigning, i dont really blame her bec while it is fine to attack her, many attack her family and her children which i wouldnt want them to go thru that anymore. so i think she’s trying to protect her family. good for her.
