Gerard Butler: Thumbs Up at LAX

Gerard Butler gives a thumbs up to photographers as he catches a flight out of town from Los Angeles International Airport on Friday (December 3).

The 41-year-old Scottish actor stayed warm in a beanie and leather jacket but had to take them off while going through security.

Gerard is reportedly in talks to star in the film adaptation of Afterburn.

If he signs on, he would play Jake, who leads a team of “recovery experts” as they venture into the danger zone to secure treasures such as the Mona Lisa, and the Crown Jewels, according to EW.

    Paisley please, I was replying in good humor to your post at #147. Enjoy your weekend.

    I forgot to mention a burning question here always is what film project will be next for him?

    btw. A new TV series is being shot in Hawaii, “Off the Map,” about doctors doing humanitarian work in a fictional Third World country. Sounds like a great concept. Surprised it hasn’t been done before.

    Among the ensemble cast is New Zealand actor Martin Henderson. Seeing his picture on the cast list startled me because at first I thought it was Butler. One random photo can sometimes have a random similarity to someone else, but when I googled Henderson, ALL his pictures resemble Butler in his various incarnations. Even the smoldering blue eyes are similar. I would post the link but so many foks here are faster with Link Fingers than I am I suspect someone will do it first. I swear these two could be brothers. Of course I haven’t seen Henderson in any interviews so far. He seems not to be that well known.

    Again, happy weekend everyone. I must work.

    @omg:

    I don’t think so. It’s almost impossible to travel to the UK presently as they had big snowstorms which paralysed all travel. Some people were even stranded on a train on account of it.

    They say they’ve never seen snow like that before.

    In Fife, in Scotland, they had the worst of it.

    If he was going to Scotland to spend the Holidays there, he would be spending them in Perthshire where his family lives and this is in the Highlands and it’s practically impossible to travel there presently.

    I’ve a friend who lives there and she wrote to me that it meant she wouldn’t have any mail for the whole week on account of the postman being unable to travel from one home to another.

  • Poor Lainey

    @Nuts:

    On another site, he’s reported at having arrived yesterday evening at Miami Airport for the Basel Art event whatever that is. He could be friend with an artist exposing there or even thinking of partying there as he did in December 2007 with some of his friends.

  • Poor Lainey

    @lolita:

    I heard and read that too somewhere. He is rumored to have bought her and his stepfather a home in Florida. He’s really a nice son if you think of it. He took her to a Burns night in 2003 at Skibo Castle where he paid 5,000 pounds each for them. Then he bought her the property in the Highlands and now that other property in Florida.

    Unless she and Alec are in Florida right now, I doubt she will be flying to either LA or NYC to spend the Holidays with him as there are no flights leaving the UK or going to the UK.

  • Poor Lainey

    @paisley please:

    Not all of them. They’re very much like other men. The hard working kind who have to do some serious growing up early in life will take their times finding a strong woman they can love and settle down with.

    There are perennial bachelors like Gerry who likes to try to get as much action as they can with different women. For the records, he doesn’t have a type where looks are concerned. They don’t have to be tall dark and skinny but he does prefer brunettes. Actually as long as the woman is easy and likes to show lots of skin and can be fun he will do her.

    I think he will marry when he can no longer score with all the eager ambitious models who can’t make a name for themselves or the easy party girls will go home with him. Then it will dawn on him he needs somebody by his side and then he’ll probably show better taste in whom he’ll pick.

    So far the only maturity he has shown is to avoid knocking up any of those one-night stands he had or going crazy enough over one of those very materialistic girls who only hooks up with rich men so they can have an easy lifestyle or so they can boast they’ve done it with Gerard Butler as to go and marry one of them.

    Warren Beatty was just as crazy as he was where women were concerned till he became more mature in his 50ies and fell for Annette Bening and married her. So there’s hope that in 10 years GB could be a very different man than he is now.

    @omg:

    I disagree with you one one thing. A 9-5 woman if she had a good strong relationship with such a man as Gerry, if he committed to her and we’d see it’s serious, she would more than likely give up her 9-5 job to go and be with him. 9-5 women let down their hair too and can be even more fun and wilder than models with angst about being the next top model.

    Actually a model would be less likely to run off to be with him as this would kill her career especially if he’s seeing other women besides her. No intelligent ambitious model who gets hired for famous fashion designers would put her career aside for him unless he’s put a ring on her finger first.

    Women with active career in the arts, like actresses, models, singers are way too ambitious about their career to give it up for a man unless the man has the kind of career that permits him to be with her. Those women usually wake up in their late 30ies (especially for models as over the age of 35, some of them are has-been who never made it as top models or who have moved on to open their own modeling agencies) with their biological clock ticking that then they’ll think of settling down.

    So I do think a 9-5 woman would be a better choice for him especially if he’s very serious about her and/or she can relocate somewhere else in the same kind of job to be with him.

    @he’s ugly He is not fat…he is actually in the best shape he has been in a long time. I think the camera can add 10 lbs. easily. I bet if you saw him in person he would be very thin looking. Definitely not ugly either!

  • OMG

    @Bonnie Shirley:
    Since you’re such an expert on legal matters, please tell me, how is my comment so libelous?
    @justsayin’:
    LOL
    Yeah, nothing will be left of him in 10 years, he better get serious about his life and find someone within the next couple of years. I know he’s a man, but men also have a body clock that’s ticking away, and it ticks even faster when they live in the fast lane like he does.
    @Poor Lainey:
    I didn’t say a 9-5 woman would not be good for him. I said he is not interested in an ordinary woman. He likes women that have some connections to his industry. Look at all the girls he has dated, they had all been in the arts in some capacity, either through acting, modeling, dancing, or designing. That seems to be more of a must for him than the look of the woman, which has been so often attributed to him – the skinny tall dark brunette type. I think he will deviate from that look if the woman is attractive and he likes her personality, since he said he likes fun women.
    I think he likes to be the center of attention in a woman’s life. Therefore, a 9-5 woman who has commitments and can’t leave her job to go running off with him at the drop of a hat, will not be able to keep him long. Can you imagine sending him alone to shoot a film in some remote locale and expecting him to stay faithful? It will never happen. That’s why he needs someone flexible who doesn’t have to be in the office 9-5, 5 days a week. BTW, 9-5 doesn’t’ exist anymore. Today, it’s more like 9-7 involving other responsibilities for your firm, such as traveling.
    However, you’re right that a woman with a regular job, compatibility wise, would be better for him in the long run. I just don’t think he is interested in one since he left that life a long time ago.
    If he met a woman like that who would agree to make him the center of attention in her life, she better make him give her a ring first, before she sacrifices her career for him. Probably, it will never happen since he’s not that egger to marry anyway.

  • gotta be kidding

    what woman could possibly keep up with him? he travels too damn much. i mean being able to travel, i.e. having the $$$ and time, is wonderful, but he overdoes it, IMO. as much as in love i may be with someone, i could compromise but not that much. the man just cant be tied down and he knows it. he has an insatiable wanderlust and just lust for everything in general, sex, food, etc., except work, def, not a workaholic, hehe.

  • i heart

    i agree he exhausts me just reading about his antics, i couldn’t imagine keeping up with his frantic pace.

  • yuck

    @OMG…You are so right he will be so old and used up in 10 yrs. that the young models will not want his ass. He better find someone while in his 40′s because yes, men age too and do not look quite so good any more in their 50′s! He does not seem like the marrying type and would have to give up a lot of his partying lifestyle to be a husband and father. he probably realizes that and does not want to get too involved with the women he is associated with. Not many people work 9-5 anymore. My husband has his own business and works 5am-7pm every night and sometimes on Sat.

  • yuck

    @ gotta be kidding & i heart: Yes, can you imagine anyone keeping up with his schedule….it is insane! The man can not stay in one place for two weeks straight I swear. I remember when i was on a tour group trip in Europe and they would have you going non stop allover the place…I was sooo exhausted that I almost fainted one day. I could not imagine keeping up with his schedule. It would take a tough woman that is for sure!

  • Eliza Dolittle

  • OMG

    @gotta be kidding:
    @yuck:
    Absolutely! Most women would faint from exhaustion. Women need more time for themselves than men need. He is on the go, go, go – 24/7. He needs a tough woman who can keep up with him and not slow him down, because if she does, watch him get very frustrated with her, and that could put them on the road to breaking up.
    Look at how he traveled for this one trip. Just one carryon bag, because he is planning on being in and out of there in a hurry, as soon as the show ends??? Then where to? Perhaps, back to LA or NYC to re-pack, and then where to? Glasgow, or somewhere completely different? I’m getting tried just thinking about it lol.
    .
    He definitely has “insatiable wanderlust and just lust for everything in general, sex, food, etc,” except as soon as the novelty wears off and he has discovered everything about something, he moves on to the next mystery, until he figures it completely. Then, it’s time to move on again. Is it any wonder he can’t find one woman to interest him for the long term? If he will find someone that holds his interest, and also he happens to respect her, he will commit. But he doesn’t stick around long enough to give anyone a chance, and he most definitely doesn’t respect women he is attracted to; he sees such women as sex objects. The more attracted he is to her, the more of a sex object she becomes for him. I think it will be up to the woman to take the lead in such a relationship and to make him see her as more than just a pretty face, but she has to do it in a subtle way so that he doesn’t feel he is being manipulated or controlled.
    He is a complicated dude LOL. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.

  • in denial

    @Eliza Dolittle:

    No one who loves him here wants to believe that; speculate he uses drugs and you will get blasted off the board! But I agree with you, I think he does coke among other drugs. He may not drink in public because he claims to be alcohol free, but because of his speedy life style, I am convinced he uses. My opinion. That is why he is aging rapidly and looks different in every other set of pics.

  • in denial

    @OMG:

    i’m wondering if he had limited resources meaining not being a rich and famous star, would he this restless. he’d prob. be married w/kids by now.

  • gotta be kidding

    @in denial:

    or unemployed……..

  • Scout

    All he’s doing is living the life every guy dreams about. He didn’t make it big in acting until his 30s so 1.) he’s making the most of it now 2.) he’s dad not been around has left him with issues & 3.) he just hasn’t met the right person yet. He’ll work it out eventually! I don’t think he drinks or does drugs. He always comes across as being a bit manic to me, in his interviews and dashing here & there. I think he could be a touch bi-polar and that’s why he stays away from the drink. He must have it under control in order to be the success he is but I’d say he’s had problems with anxiety/depression.

  • redOctober

    @interesting:

    Sorry I’ve been trying to post the link but JJ won’t let me : (

  • stupidfans

    @gotta be kidding: Or sponging off a girlfriend. However he already covered that territory.

    Why else do you think he wanted to be an actor? It’s the only profession that supports the lifestyle he wanted. He’s relishing every second of it and is going to tap it as long as he can. I don’t blame him for that. If stupid fans are dumb enough to pay him for his awful film roles, why not live it up on the proceeds?

    Regarding cutting in line: No excuses for rudeness and such a sense of entitlement. He knew what he was doing. He’s a keen judge of people and probably knew the person he cut off wouldn’t call him on it., and he was right.

    The Gucci jacket is hideous. $4K on that? Stars are stupid.

    Speaking of stupid, the clip of him trying to read one simple line in Spanish (what was it four words?) shows he has no ability to learn lines and is far from the genius his phannies allege him to be. Proof that alcohol kills brain cells.

  • Wondering

    Doesn’t anyone consider that perhaps his lifestyle would change upon settling down? Why is it presumed that it would continue as it is at present?

    As to the remainder of the speculation I have only one word to write: baloney.

  • Scout

    @stupidfans: It’s hard to believe that jacket was $4k. Gerry isn’t in to clothes, it was probably given to him, after all he is the poster child for leather jackets! That’s probably why it doesn’t fit him :-) If you walk into a shop and hand over $4k for a jacket I’m sure the shop assistant would get you the right size!
