Gwen Stefani Donates $1 Million to Tsunami Relief

Gwen Stefani has donated $1 million to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund.

“I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture,” the 41-year-old No Doubt rocker shared. “The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.”

Next week, details about a charity auction will be announced – fans can bid on the chance to meet Gwen at a special fundraiser! A limited edition Harajuku Lovers tee designed by Gwen will also be available next week, with 100% of the proceeds going toward disaster relief in Japan.

Aw now this is what more celebs need to do, put their money where their mouth is!

And she has indeed been very inspired by the country, so its even cooler she did this.

Very impressed with Gwen’s generosity.

Although many other celebs may donate privately, I’ve noticed that a lot of so-called stars spend a lot of time and effort (on twitter for example) urging the public to donate. It begs the question — are they really charitable at heart, or just cheap and trying to get publicity for themselves.

Hey celebrities, forget about twitter and put your money where your mouth is — follow Sandra and Gwen’s example!

@Sun:

Agree.Many people donate.Sandra did it and she didn’t said a word/the Red cross mentioned/ but Gwen brags.At least she admits the support of her fans.

@Donation — I acknowledged Sandra. If you read my post, what pis*ed me off are those hypocrites who tell others to donate but are not able to reach into their pockets themselves. Whether Gwen brags or not is not the point.

I’m not a Gwen fan, by the way — I’m just calling a spade a spade.

Sandra did it first….THAT SAID, more celebs should follow suit.
Also, I wish there was this kind of support for Haiti.

As someone who has worked for a foundation, the announcement of philanthropic gifts serves two very important functions. First, it helps to create visibility and awareness around an important need, such as help with population displacement through war or natural disasters. Second, the awareness that is created then helps to spur future giving among others major philanthropists, as these needs are ever evolving. Good for Gwen Stefani, Sandra Bullock, Brad and Angelina, and others who generously give millions away to charity every year. All these gifts serve a worthy purpose.

It’s wonderful so that both Gwen & Sandra B donated a great large gift to the relief effort. And I’m especially happy that Gwen did this because her LAMB, Harajuku lovers brand/shoes, perfume are so Japanese inspired. Her music albums like Love, Angel, Music Baby is a perfect example of Japanese inspiration. I’m sure the Japanese culture and people are thankful to everyone not just celebrities donating and supporting them.

Good for her. But, no one needed to know that she gave anything. “Give wholeheartedly and quietly”

@Lalalove:
Why silently? That is ridiculous.
Donating inspires others to do the same.
WTF is wrong with you?

Love you Gwen and your family.

Brad and angie where is your 1 million to donate? Probably ran out of money living their high profile lifestyle. Jets and all. I bet the Japanese rejected angie from adopting any kids from the country, that’s why her and brad haven’t donated any money.

That’s amazing. She has such a great heart,.
