Leighton Meester: 'I Hate You, Dad' with Vanilla Ice?

Leighton Meester is in talks to join Vanilla Ice in Adam Sandler‘s new movie, I Hate You, Dad.

The comedy centers around a father (Sandler) who moves in with his son (Andy Samberg) and his fiancee (Meester), “only to immediately start feuding with the bride-to-be,” according to Variety.

And Vanilla Ice‘s role? He’s reportedly playing a gay wedding coordinator!

Adam will also be producing the flick, which is set to begin filming this summer for a June 2012 release.

I love Andy Samberg, but him playing Adam’s son does not fly. They’re not far apart enough in age. Lame.

As for the age difference comment, Adam’s almost 45 (he’s my age) so Samberg just has to play a few years younger (like that never happens in Hollywood…Anne Bancroft, aka Mrs Robinson, was only 6 years older than Dustin Hoffman)

Great. Expect another round of homophobic, frat-boy jokes from Adam Sandler playing, who else, Adam Sandler… again.

I’m sorry, but even if you happen to be from the mid-west, how have you not grown tired of his played-out, same ol’ shtick??

lol so basically leighton meester is going in the direction of doing supporting roles in ****** films

hate on blake lively all you want, but at least she’s good at picking films. Heck even ed westwick, penn badgely etc seem to be doing better stuff outside Gossip Girl than Meester.

Im sorry but this has fail written all over it. It’d be nice to see Leighton in a comedic role, but this project just sounds awful.

    MaisyRL Says:

@ok: what does good at picking films mean exactly? variety (acting range)? cast (award winners)?
Meester has played a psycho, a sugary sweet country singer (a real meaty supporting role next to an oscar winner w/ more than 14 min of movie time), and now she’s doing comedies: The Oranges, Monte Carlo, and now this movie. Lively seems to play sexually forward women: The Town, the movie she’s currently filming, and Pippa Lee. Lantern will probably be a departure. Meester gets it on range. On award winning cast: Lively’s co-starring w/ Affleck vs. Meester’s co-starring w/ Gwyneth Paltrow. Meester wins b/c Paltrow has a best actress award (Ben has Good Will Hunting screenplay award). If you’re talking about popularity, then Lively wins it. B/c the media has pegged her as the next ‘It’ girl (whether she has the talent or not) Just like the media fascination w/ Carey Mulligan, Anne Hathaway…etc. ended, so will their fascination with Lively. It’s cyclical and to be expected. The only person that you mentioned that does have good movie picks is Ed Westwick. He came to GG w/ the Children of Men/Breaking and Entering under his belt w/ the likes of Clive Owen and Jude Law. But those were 3-4 min appearances. Now he’s doing J.Edgar w/ Leo which is very significant for his career. So i really don’t see how the other’s are good at picking movie roles if they’re getting type cast, roles w/ no variety, w/ non-award winning actors.

    ok Says:

@MaisyRL: are you dumb? All of Meester’s films have bombed critically. It doesn’t matter about the size of the part or who their acting with but being a part of a critically successful film can do a lot for an actors’ career. Look at Armie Hammer. One supporting role in TSN and now he’s getting roles alongside leo dicaprio & julia roberts in highly anticipated films. And Paltrow may be an oscar winner but her reputation now is awful, everyone hates her. She was pretty much one of the main reason Country Strong received awful reviews since critics were too busy hating her and her personal life to review the movie.

    MJ Says:

@ok: Country Strong didn’t get great reviews as an overall film, but Leighton’s performance was consistently praised as the best. Check your facts.
