Nick Cannon: Autoimmune Disease Diagnosis

Nick Cannon has spoken out about his health problems and revealed that he has an autoimmune disease similar to lupus.

The 31-year-old entertainer was hospitalized for kidney failure in January and later hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs.

“I’m just trying to make sure I put my health first,” Nick told PeopleNick stepped down from his post at a NY radio show last month to continue his recovery.

Although the issue is something he will live with for the rest of his life, he says “it’s all in order now”.

“I feel blessed to be alive,” Nick added. “If it wasn’t discovered, I don’t know [what would have happened].”

Love Nick. Hope he gets better soon!

  • rahrahrah

This is an autoimmune disease, he has to live with this for the rest of his life. With the given information of kidney failure and blood clots in his lungs, my best guess is he’s got Good Pasteur syndrome :( poor guy. I wish the best for him and his family.

  • julie

he is successful in his own right, he may need to slow it down a bit, praying for nick, what a sweet guy, all the best to him and his family..

Thanks doctor, but Goodpasture’s has nothing to do with blood clots in the lungs.

  • marie’sharper

Goodpasture’s is a disease in which autoantibodies specifically target the lungs and the kidney basement membranes attracting phagocytes which release enzymes that damage these tissues–> tissue damage involves vascular damage, which very likely leads to clot formation.

yes, blood clots in the lungs!

so rahrahrah is quite right in her thinking.

are you a doctor? for the good of humanity i hope you’re not. we don’t need more doctors who are so confident in their ignorance.
