'Elmo Voice' Kevin Clash Resigns Amid New Allegations

Kevin Clash has resigned from his position as the voice of Elmo on Sesame Street due to the controversy surrounding his personal life.

“Sesame Workshop’s mission is to harness the educational power of media to help all children the world over reach their highest potential. Kevin Clash has helped us achieve that mission for 28 years, and none of us, especially Kevin, want anything to divert our attention from our focus on serving as a leading educational organization. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street,” the Sesame Workshop said in a statement.

Kevin has been the subject of allegations that he had sexual relations with an underage boy.

He should never be around children, such a creepy person, I hope they find a good replacement for our red little guy

I think it is sad when you pay the accuser to recant his story. Mr. Clash need to be put in jail for harming a child. Major media along with talk shows are not touching this story. Social Media is keeping the story alive.

Ms PissyPants you don’t even know the whole story idiot, do some research before you say these awful things. The accuser said it never happened, and if you look him up would know that the accuser always wanted to be a celebrity, and be famous and was arrested multiple times of robbery. He used Kevin, he ruined his reputation. This is really sad for Kevin, he loved his job, and people liked him too.

@elle: Hey Elle, you dont know if he is guilty or not do we? so before you chew into me like I could find a big enough f***, do your own research, JJ is reporting it so I will follow the story as is progresses, U MAD BRAHH!

I saw the documentary on Netflix about Kevin Clash. He is an amazingly talented man who has done a lot to help kids. However if he did the things that he is accused off then he should pay for it. Regardless of the accuser’s background if Kevin is guilty then he’s guilty. At this point we need to have justice run it’s course.

Very sad day indeed. It’s unfortunate he has to pay for something that he did not do. Everyone loves Elmo!!!

    seriously? Says:

@No Bull: @Toni: @Ms.PissyPants: He didn’t harm a child. he had sex with an adult. the accuser admitted to police that he used the allegation for attention and money. try reading something besides JJ sometime. you will avoid embarrassing situations where you look like a homophobic teenager.

    @seriously?:

ITA! People need to get their facts straight before they open their mouths. Very sad situation for Sesame Street and Mr. Clash. I pray that he’s not guilty so he can move on. Just horrible that someone would come out now after so many years just for the sake of money and attention.

    Why? Says:

I am glad he’s out. He shouldn’t be around children.

    Facts Says:

@Constance: How do you know? I want to hear all the facts before jumping to conclusions. I am relieved that he will not continue to be the voice of Elmo. It would be an unnecessary risk for children. Everybody loves Elmo not Kevin Clash.

@Rocky: You should pray for the victims of sexual abuse.

First of all it’s obvious that you didn’t read my comments. Maybe you’re PR just doing your job… why else would you be posting here. Right?

The thing that puzzles me about his accuser is that he went on to have a relationship with the man for 7 years. I find this strange. He is only noticing now that he is 24 that they had an inappropriate relationship? After they broke up? He didn’t notice when he was an adult 18-23? Also for the second accuser he says he met Clash on a gay chatroom when he was 15, and they did not have a sexual relationship until years later when he was an adult! Ok, first I am not sure there is anything illegal about that. It gross that an adult is having conversations with a 15 year old on a chat room but If they didnt actually have a relationship until he was an adult then why is he coming forward 9 years later to mar this man’s reputation? He is suing him for $5 million dollars when he admits they were not intimate! He says they kissed and touched but he doesnt say how old he was then. Kevin Clash likes much younger men, which is distasteful but I dont see any proof yet that he is a pedophile.

@Facts: @Facts: Because Mr. Singleton’s lawsuit is seeking $5 million in damages. They want money.

Mr Clash is a forerunner to Barack Obama, who clashes so bad with the red state people.

Devastating that those malicious allegations could ruin a truly iconic career. I hope Clash pursues every ounce of civil and criminal justice in response.
