Cannot fathom how she won. Riva, Chastain, Wallis had better performances. Proof that if you suck up to Weinstein enough, you’ll get the rewards.

  • Paula

Or the Academy thought she was better?!

  • just sayin’

@Paula: Except she wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I like her a lot. She’s definitely talented and she gave a strong performance but it was not Oscar worthy! On a side note, I really like this dress. Much better than the one she wore to the show.

  • Sam

Give me a break some chick Jess arguing that Riva should have won, as if she saw Amour, Jennifer should have won for Winter’s Bone and she was amazing in SLP, and was able to pull off playing someone much older ….. And I love how charming she was when she fell but still gave a heartwarming acceptance speech while poking fun at herself, without coming off as insincere like Portman and Hathway or nonstop crying like Paltrow and Berry.

  • alexis

    @just sayin’:
I respect different opinions. Glad you didn’t insult her. She’s called bit*h elsewhere.

  • Anne

She so pretty, and what a amazing body, it’s hard to pull off dress like that if you have curves., and what a down to earth charming girl… She really made me fan tonight.

But I thought that the Governor party is the official after party and that’s where all the nominees and winners go ?

like Gregory responded I’m impressed that anyone able to profit $5421 in a few weeks on the internet. have you seen this web site…

  • i hate haters

i bet those who says riva should have won didnt even see her film amour or even understood it since its in french and yes jessica chastain was phenomenal in zero dark thirty but as well as jennifer lawrence in silver linings playbook or else everyone wouldn’t have talked about their close match. it already happened okay why dont you all just congratulate the winner since she deserve that oscar award as the other contenders deserve it it was just that she was the one who accepted the golden statue. if you dont have anything good to say at all then don’t even write your comment here it just slows down the good vibes, you negative person jess. and your opinion doesn’t matter anymore you could whine all you can jen still won

  • miapocca

Everyone has thier time..She obviously paid a price for it. The studio made her dump the boyfriend and what else we may not be aware of …yet? Most of the time when someone like this wins, they still dont get a whole lot of roles because they are simply not good enough for the really big movies.

Katie holmes just realized she did not need to marry to, cruise…if only she had countined on her path,…who knows this could have been her…Sometime using someone can backfire on you …lol

  • thismustbejoke

she’s good actress?yes. she’s deserve for best actress? no. i also think jen role in WB is more worthy than her role in SLP. Now people start talking about her winning the award because of Harvey and she so lucky. He did the same thing to Gwneyth Paltro. Poor Jen she must heard the rumors. Jen is good actress but not really great. Her choice of role in each movies not really strong and difficult. Her performace in all her movies just ok . There are more young actress talented and versatile than Jen but they still don’t have luck just like her.

  • caroline

    @i hate haters:

I think that everybody should allowed to express their opinion. I don’t personally think that Jennifer Lawrence gave the best leading performance in a film by an actress this year but I understand that part of her winning is due to the momentum she has build with Winter’s Bones & Hunger Games. A similar thing happened with Renee Zellweger & Cate Blanchett who were awarded the oscar for the lesser of their roles. It will be interesting to see how her career will pan out – I hope that she doesn’t become like Hilary Swank & simply seek out award worthy roles. I still don’t know if she has a great deal of versatility in that I couldn’t imagine her in a period piece as she is much too modern.

  • Yeah..

Jessica Chastain was good in Zero Dark Thirty but she didn’t have much of an emotional range. Jennifer Lawrence opened to an emotional depth that was remarkable. Congrats girl

I love the dress! This b*tch has a good taste..can’t say the same about her manners!

And here’s what the stars were drinking at all the parties – Vanity Fair, Elton John, Seth MacFarlane and the Governor’s Ball!

  • Sweetness

Haters are on a warpath ! Jennifer won and she deserved to win BECAUSE SHE IS TALENTED! Her work in Silver Linings Playbook was pitch perfect. She’s clearly got range and the Academy recognized that be awarding her t hat OScar.
She young, beautiful and Hollywood loves her…indeed an enviable position to be in!

  • http://yahoo seinna

She looks gorgeous ! She has a wonderful body. Happy that she won an oscar .

  • Maria

She kissed Weinstein’s A@@ and he talked her up around Hollywood. He has a ton of clout. She knows herself that she did not deserve it for her “acting”…. She’s an average actress, but men like her…and Weinstein is probably immensely attracted to her. Riva should have won this award.

  • Warren

Jennifer should have worn this dress to the Oscars. Very sexy. She always looks pretty no matter what.

    She doesn’t look like a 22 year old :0

  • truth

Jennifer Lawrence wins because WEINSTEIN’s hustling and did no DESERVE it!!! Her role was supporting and if she go against Anne Hathaway there is no way she has a chance to win. She just happens to be in Harveys movie and by her own admission show up on set without knowing her lines. Her win pure FRAUD and if compare her perfomance to past winners like Kate Winslet or Marion Cotillard or Charlize she looks weak and forgettable,

  • Ken

Have to say agree with a lot of previous comments,

She definitely comes across as an exceptionally likeable and down to earth young woman But- I too didn’t think by any means for this performance she was ‘oscar’s worthy’ at all.

Yes her performance was good, yes she’s a talented actress but considering not only the other nominees in same category but also many other actress’ past performances that had never even been nominated does seem very very very over rated.

Evan rachel wood should have won an oscar for nearly every one of her performances if this is the standard (as she is exceptionally talented)
    and similar aged.

In fact so many others spring to mind as being a lot better than Lawrence.

But thats the industry for you i guess

Really though does make you think gee any one of millions and millions of pretty good but not great actresses can win such a prestigious award!

Even jus amongst people I know (would never have said so before this) but when compared to Lawrence could be oscar winners, probably are more strikingly beautiful too.

At least she’s a nice girl though, or comes across as one.

I know this award isn’t for that, but seeing what it is for and she’s already won it at least that’s the feeling your’e left with ‘couldn’t ha’ve gone to a nier girl’, rather than being rude or nasty about her because you really do not agree of her being deserving of an oscar.
