@JustSayin: The performances were shown on TV. It was live. He still should’ve put a spoiler alert for people who weren’t able to watch.

  • kelli

the young Russian pair was very good, I enjoyed them better. this couple is very hard-working though and takes it so seriously. I guess it just goes to show that when you stay with the same partner your whole life you really become a team capable of success. congrats.

  • Diana

Jared, put a spoiler alert. Some of us don’t get to watch this till much later!!!!!!! especially the west coast

  • Rose

Congrats to them! And Charlie is pretty cute. I bet he’ll end up getting lots of fangirls and endorsement deals. Can see American girls going nuts over him.

  • USA USA!

    what is ice dancing anyway?

  • Maria

Wow. Some of you sound pretty ignorant. This ice dance pair was pure perfection, and they deserve that gold. They have been skating together for 16 years!! They are stunning on the ice. So happy they got their dream!!

  • Tess

Charlie is a bit chunky for an ice dancer and very fruity,,,, and his partner, well, eek

  • USA

    @Marci: Awww, too bad.

  • Ice

    @Haa: I’m sure she’s better looking than you…with a MUCH better personality.

  • Ha Ha

    @Haa: Poor baby…another D-bag canadian sore loser.

  • JustSayin

@Haa: please tell me which Olympic event you’re watching that’s dictated by beauty bc the one that Meryl Davis is competing in is in ice dancing, and she’s basically perfection at it.

  • Goldy

@Maria: They did deserve it…they were world champions the last two years, it wasn’t “fixed” like alot of the Canadian and Russian fans seem to think. They are technically superior.

  • ..

@Tess: And what do YOU do that’s so wonderful??

  • snapcracklepop

Davis and White were comparatively flawless.
The Silver Canadians- their Twizzles weren’t in sync- it seemed to be her fault.
The young Russians were very exciting but, their skate wasn’t as difficult, had wider space between them while skating- or were touching which is easier, and were sloppy (though exciting). The Russians are very young but, could be huge and more polished for the next Olympics!

  • Susie#1

Davis and White are Detroiters, and that’s all that matters. Actually, Detroit has many of the best coaches, and all the top skaters train there with them.

    Rigged

  • rigged is right

Skating Judging: Pure talent is not the sole determination
    - Coaches Pedigree (Most are Russian for ice dancing, operate out of Michigan these days) HUGE
    - Coaches status and favors he/she can call upon
    - International Politics
    - Politics within the sport (A BIGGIE and unknown outside)
    - Judging deals (your guy wins this year if mine wins next)
    - Seniority within the sport (paying your dues, being patient)
-YES, Talent Is still the major factor
ONLY A DISASTROUS FALL can change the predetermined, agreed upon “worked out” results
    - How do I know this? My brother competed many years ago and finished 5th and 7th at the National Championships. This is what we saw, were told about, and is well known within the sport and NO he was not ripped off.
    - I will Guarantee you that American Judges and Canadian Judges owe Russian Skaters their due in the next World Championships and Olympics.

  • rigged is right

By” International Politics” I mean sports politics, and watch some of the Russian coaches pick up stakes in America and head back to Russia or maybe Canada because they know where the future lies.

  • Ha Ha Ha

no commercial endorsements coming their way
    scary ugly
    lol

  • lisa

@Haa: ha! this just made me laugh out loud

  • You’re an idiot

The Russian skaters have gotten more than their share of undeserved medals over the years, so STFU. Nobody owes them anything, they always think the medals are just supposed to be handed to them.

  • You’re an idiot

@rigged is right: The Russian skaters have gotten more than their share of undeserved medals over the years, so STFU. Nobody owes them anything, they always think the medals are just supposed to be handed to them.

  • stephanie

    What a load of crap.
This event was completely fixed and everyone knows it. It was reported in french newspapers before the competition even began that it was fixed in the american’s favour.
    Shame!

  • Eeek

@Ha Ha Ha: At least they won….alot more than what you’ve done lately, I’m sure. Gee, you must be from Canada…poor baby.
