    John Says:

Already tired of Lupita and her massive campaign. Her performance in 12 Years a Slave wasn’t that astonishing for all this buzz.

    DougW Says:

Can’t believe EW went with this cover in the middle of Oscar voting. Cate is a clear-cut frontrunner, but Lupita and Jennifer Lawrence are believed to be very close in the race for Best Supporting Actress. This cover is completely unfair to Jen.

    Bea Says:

Jen doesnt even want it, she probably couldnt careless tbh and Lupita has been campaigning hard for it and so has Cate Blanchett, they both want it, (‘specially Cate after being snubbed by Gwyneth Paltrow all those years ago) shes a lock though, so she doesnt really need to do all this “campaigning” as for Lupita, cmoonn the girl deserves it! Jen was great in AH but its ridiculous to even put her against Lupitas performance. Jen played a weird crazy eccentric housewive….where as Lupita played a slaved who got raped and beaten on a daily basis. Is it even a question as to who should get the Oscar???

    YES Says:

@John: I second that! Let the Oscars be over already, it becoming boring with all the projected winners: Lupita, Matthew, Leto. Actors please sit down, it’s really becoming tired and boring.

    GUest Says:

Huh? Cate hasn’t been campaigning, all she’s done is attend the shows. This is the first awards-related cover/promo she’s done, which was largely for Lupita not for herself as she clearly doesn’t need it.

Sony PIctures Classic’s ads barely even mention Cate, they’re focused mainly on Hawkins. That’s how much she doesn’t need it.

    LOL Says:

ok she’s making Hathaway’s desperation look like a blip…we get she’s the new messiah in Hollywood. Based off of 15 minutes in a film that is NOT taking the world by storm. Somebody is clearly trying to make her happen. And she’s done nothing else. At least let’s see her follow up with another role leading but carrying on as if she is equal to Cate Blanchett is a bit much.

    @John:
Yeah. I love her but I totally hear you on getting tired of the campaigning.
It was nice seeing her at first, but this has gone into overkill.
Will be happy when all of the awards are over. Actually, I bet she will be too. Too much of anything will turn anybody off.

    Oh Yeah!!! Says:

@Bea: Oh the Jealous Haters are here in FULL EFFECT! get a Life!

    Nona Says:

I hope Lupita wins, Cate can just go away.

    Helen Says:

I’m glad that Lupita is not afraid of bold colors, I like that. Cool dress.

first overexposure of Jen, then overexposure of lupita…. are you guys really THAT surprised though? they ALWAYS do that with predicted oscar winners so stop acting like she’s “campaigning hard”, if anything, compared to last years oscars, Jen campaigned along with O.Russell much harder then lupita ever did, I don’t see lupita going on SNL “charmingly bash” another oscar nominee so she can look cute and adorable (Jen talking about Jessica Chastain). at least lupita isn’t in your face like Jen does with always trying to come up with anything funny so people can fall for her so “charming and oh so down to earth” PR act. It’s a breath of fresh air that we actually get some breathing room from Jen for once so enjoy it now before she gets nominated again next year and then j.law overexposure will launch in full force all over again. and how can anybody say that lupitas performance wasn’t that great, they clearly didn’t see 12YAS along with AH to make a good analysis of the two performances. Compared to Jens real housewives of New Jersey accent performance in the highly overrated AH, lupitas performance was truly intense and emotional and she rightfully deserves to win. And she can’t help the fact that every magazine wants to take pics of her, she’s a very gorgeous girl, and not even for a black woman, she’s a genuinely stunning woman with an amazing bone structure, skin tone, and very fit yet curvy body and she’s an inspiration for many young girls in the midst of being in white Hollywood. If I started seeing lupita act like Jen at interviews and events, then I’ll think she’s being overexposed and annoying but lupita is quiet and really keeps to herself, I guess keeping to herself is still making the haters go crazy.

    Cece Says:

I saw both American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave, and between the two performances, Lupita’s performance was amazing and memorable! Let her have her moment, Jennifer Lawrence did when she was in contention and won last year.

    Lupita Fan Says:

    @lol:

Well put, very nicely said! Leave her alone and let her get her shine. Her performance was amazing and she’s very deserving of that Oscar and all the attention that she’s getting. Not to mention, she’s stunning, intelliegent, smart and so polished.

    Glen Says:

The cover story was likely done prior to BAFTA. Cate Blanchett hasn’t been campaigning that much. She’s attended the award shows – like everyone else. She wasn’t even part of the Vanity Fair shoot. She lives in Australia.

  15. 15
    clay Says:

I will take the overexposure of Lupita to the overexposure of Jennifer Lawrence.

    Habteab Weldemenkerios Says:

I am proud of you Lupita. I hope many more young Africans will be inspired and follow your steps.

  17. 17
    Jared Says:

Lupita is not doing any more campaigning then Jen did last year and I didn’t hear the hate then. She did a great job in 12 years and deserves the oscar. FYI most of these mags were done in Sept/Oct. What some find hard to accept is that her beauty is a breath of fresh air.

    Noah Says:

Cate Blanchett is generally considered one of the finest actresses of our time and she has yet to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. She’s overdue.
