Miles Teller Was 'Feeling Dead Inside' After 'Divergent' Role

Miles Teller is speaking candidly about his recent career choices.

While promoting his new movie Whiplash, the 27-year-old opened up to W Magazine about why he took the role in the Divergent film series.

“When I first read Whiplash, I was feeling dead inside,” he said. “I didn’t have an interesting part [in Divergent], and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, ‘This sucks.’ He told me about Whiplash.”

Whiplash is set to hit theaters on October 10.

UPDATE: Miles‘ rep tells THR, “Accustomed to being more involved in the process of filmmaking, Miles regrets those words. He does value his relationship with Lionsgate and his participation in the franchise.”

He seems to be a little ingnorant or a person who forget things easily… Because I knew him since ‘Project X’ and it was a HUGE hit overseas.

Miles, I advise to be a LITTLE MORE grateful.

  • Lore

Obviously he hasnt read the books, because Peter is a really big character in the series

  • Mike

He’s actually a good actor, way better than Divergent deserves. Glad he will be doing some more good work like Whiplash.

  • Sara

Don’t shit where you eat, Miles. Ungrateful little prick.

  • CJ

    Ummmm…… hand… bite…feed….di*khead

  • Cher

I like Miles and i think he’s a great actor but he really shouldn’t be burning bridges this early in his career.

  • Dirk

What an ungrateful twit. He already has a face that you want to punch. Major douche.

Told you this guy a douche, but people won’t believe me. Trust me, you won’t be receive any nomination for any award show.

  • Emily

I might actually have more respect for him now. Divergent does suck

  • allison

LOL at the Update. I guess he does not dislike the part that much to lose it by blabbing off.

  • talia

@Lore: peter may be a big character but i have to agree with him that peter isn’t a very interesting character.

  • Elsa

you do what you gotta do. lol at the his rep issuing a bs apology.

  • Cate

Don’t care about this series but he’s just sounds spoiled and ungrateful. It’s not he like he didn’t know what he signed up for! Hilarious how he backtracked & his rep had to apologise.

  • lucky

If that’s how he feels about Divergent then I wonder how does he feel about the Fantastic Four. He just completed that film.

  • Mike

I’m so tired of all these “artistic” actors. We get it your so deep…. As a puddle. Did he get a nose job? Cause it looks very pointy now.

  • dee

Dayum as a divergent fan and a miles teller fan this kinda sucks….. basically shxtting where you eat…. theyre like currenty shooting the 2nd movie right now and have 2 more after that….good to know he’s not even into to it

  • Cameron

He was fantastic in BieberSpace dot com and he is such a hot guy that everyone wants to be with

  • effy

@Dirk: Omg I was thinking the same thing. Totally thought I was the only one who wanted to just punch him square in the face

  • Max

@Lore: Yeah Peter is… in the book. In the movie? Not so much.

  • Kimoda

What and @ss! he was jealous that Theo an Shailene got so muchattention and then Ansel got a lot too. Ansel got attention from being in two movies with Shailene both hits and Miles who kept trying to grab attention, was ignored. He is a complete jerk. Not to mention he makes all the people involved with Divergent look bad. He knew what his part was before he signed on. He reminds me of Shia LeBoeuf.
