Julianne Moore & Ellen Page's Gay Rights Drama 'Freeheld' Banned from Filming at Catholic School

Julianne Moore and Ellen Page dress in super casual vintage clothes while filming a scene for their new movie Freeheld on Tuesday (October 21) in New York City.

The ladies changed into different outfits later in the day for a new scene and Ellen wore the same plaid shirt that Julianne wore before! Michael Shannon was also seen on set for the later scene.

The movie recently tried to film a scene at an all-boys Catholic school in a town in the suburbs outside of New York City, but was denied by school administrators.

“I respect their right to say no,” producer Michael Shamberg told BuzzFeed. “But it’s sad.”

Ellen wrote about the decision on her Twitter account. See below!

Shut up Ellen. It’s their school. They don’t have to let you film there.

  • BIll Rey

Using your sexual identity to justify religious bigotry makes me sad. Sending my support 2 the students who follow their faith at the school who I hope are able 2 find acceptance.

  • Nightwish

Piss off, Ellen! It was a PR stunt to begin with, and you got attention for your stupid dykke film at the expense of this poor traditional school that had every right to say no. I sure as he’ll won’t be seeing your damn movie, or any other project of yours in the future. #selfishpeoplewhoharmothers

Ellen Page is a sad human being. This was a PR stunt and she got the attention she wanted at the expense of this poor, traditional school. I HATE her style.

  • Nightwish

A lesbians values have just been prioritized over the values of adolescent christian boys who love their school. They’ve spent years of their lives there. Ellen wants to use it like it’s a quick lesbian affair, and bash it if she doesn’t get her way. Well done!

  • Living in a box

The school have right whether to let someone filming on their property or not. And it’s unnecessarily related with anti-Lgbt.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFjQASffHsc

  • vn_102

She should respect their believe to maintain their traditional value.
What’s wrong with these LGBT crowds, why are they always calling people name when they don’t get their way.

This is stupid, why cant gays realize that not everyone accepts their life choices. Because we dont believe what they believe it does not mean that organizations and individuals should be publicly called out for their views.

I swear, these Left-wing fascists are angry EVERY SINGLE DAMN DAY.

  • Storm

It doesn’t say anywhere that the school turned them down because they don’t agree with the content of the movie – so why is she attempting to turn it into an LGBT issue? And even if they did, it is their school and they have the right to say no. Maybe they don’t want camera crews interrupting their lives? Maybe it would be too distracting for the students? Why these people always have to turn it into something it is not. Get your head out of your own ass, Ellen Page, and tune into the real world.

  • Cate

It’s the school’s choice but very sad to see this kind of ignorance and homophobia on the part of the school and the comments here.

  • suzybel

It’s a school dumb*ss not a stage. Students are there to learn not to be exposed to your drivel.
