Hugh Jackman Receives Cancer Treatment for Third Time

Hugh Jackman was recently treated again for cancer – his third basal cell carcinoma in a twelve month period.

The 46-year-old actor had cancer removed back in November of 2013, and then more recently this past May before having another scare recently, his rep tells Us Weekly.

Since skin cancer has become an issue for Hugh, he has been consistent in reminding fans that they should wear sunscreen. On Monday (October 27), Hugh captioned a picture of Baz Luhrmann‘s speech song cover art “Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen),” with the word “SUNSCREEN!” on his Instagram.

Scientists say that childhood sunburns probably lead to cellular level skin changes later in life. In other words, wearing sunscreen in adulthood may not protect against cancer which got it’s start in youth. Covering up and protecting kids from sunburn is essential.

I just adore him. I hope its really basal cell and not melanoma. I used to fry myself with baby oil when I was young. Its very scary what people, particularly the young and ignorant, will do for fashion. I thought that protecting yourself from the sun was uncool like every teenager.

He needs to see a dermatologist more often. The freeze the tiny cancers and you do not need surgery if you stay on it. Hardly a scare.
