George Clooney Reveals He Tried & Failed to Rally Support for Sony from Hollywood Execs

George Clooney is opening up in a tell all interview about his efforts to get Hollywood to support Sony amid the cyber attack from North Korea and how not one person would join in on his efforts.

The 53-year-old actor and his agent Bryan Lourd tried to get Hollywood execs to sign a petition that said “we fully support Sony’s decision not to submit to these hackers’ demands. We know that to give in to these criminals now will open the door for any group that would threaten freedom of expression, privacy and personal liberty. We hope these hackers are brought to justice but until they are, we will not stand in fear. We will stand together.”

When he brought the petition to people in the business, not one person would put their support behind it.

“It was a fairly large number. Having put together telethons where you have to get all the networks on board to do the telethon at the same time, the truth is once you get one or two, then everybody gets on board,” George said. “It is a natural progression. So here, you get the first couple of people to sign it and … well, nobody wanted to be the first to sign on. Now, this isn’t finger-pointing on that. This is just where we are right now, how scared this industry has been made. Quite honestly, this would happen in any industry. I don’t know what the answer is, but what happened here is part of a much larger deal. A huge deal. And people are still talking about dumb emails. Understand what is going on right now, because the world just changed on your watch, and you weren’t even paying attention.”

While George calls The Interview a “dumb comedy” in the piece, he says it is extremely important that the film gets released and he’s going to do what it takes to make sure people see it.

“I just talked to Amy [Pascal] an hour ago. She wants to put that movie out. What do I do? My partner Grant Heslov and I had the conversation with her this morning. Bryan and I had the conversation with her last night,” George said. “Stick it online. Do whatever you can to get this movie out. Not because everybody has to see the movie, but because I’m not going to be told we can’t see the movie. That’s the most important part. We cannot be told we can’t see something by Kim Jong-un, of all f*cking people.”

Honestly, what IF the hackers threat were credible George, and the threats turned out to be true, then what George? I don’t think executives will like putting their consumers life at risk, no matter how small the threat is. And lets be honest, Sony created this movie to make fun of a psychotic, lunatic dictator, who doesn’t possess brain cells and has enough food under his mattress to feed his starving citizens. But we need to be real here, who is poking this fatass to threaten us. The man is CRAZY and yet you all keep picking on him and coming up with the most frivolous, hence you call the movie a ‘dumb comedy’ to satirically mess with the man, who reacts to anything. Leave this retard alone, and let him crumble under his own demise. America or any other country can care less about this puny, fat waste of space. Leave him to be and keep the comedic propaganda away from us. He should only be spoke of when global forces are trying to help North Korea’s citizens or when Kim-Joe dies, otherwise, leave the sinister man out of the media!

  • Revengefan0101

Sad… Maybe they should have made up a country with a fake leader instead of making the movie about a real country and its current leader. As far as hacking goes, hire better tech guys.

  • TEX

I completely agree with you. Hollywood’s all upset bc “terrorists” are threatening their ability to create “art” but as George said, The Interview is a stupid comedy. There’s nothing artistic about that movie and it shouldn’t have been made in the first place. I understand that Kim Jong-un is a terrible dictator, but he’s still alive and the leader of a country that happens to be our enemy. If they made a movie about a plan to assasinate our president, I’m sure Hollywood wouldn’t be saying, “it’s just North Korea’s freedom of expression”. The whole situation is incredibly stupid. Not releasing the film was absolutely the right call, bc if an attack were to happen bc of it, Sony would have a lot more problems on their hands.

It’s funny how Clooney believes in his own hype much, when in reality he’s such jokes among Hollyweird execs.
He can buy PR in the media, but when it comes to executive business decisions, his influence was just like any other average joe here.

  • lol

Clooney married a woman defending Assange Wiki leaks founder who is a professional hacker. He leaked US state secrets and put many lives in danger. He is angry about sony hackers though?

  • lol

His leaked SONY emails show how much of a joke he is.

George Clooney is NO PATRIOT. He married a grotesque Islamic Arab who looks like a transvestite in haute couture drag. So disgustingly vile with the posterior of a 3rd world prepubescent famine victim boy and emaciated male legs on a long torso.
Her manly face looks so transgender she even has a cleft chin, massive humped nose, ghoul eyes, and an Adam’s Apple. Added to that she’s pigeon-footed awkward. A real life Arab DRAG SHOW.
All this, because idiot George Clooney thought he’d impress the world by selling a liberal narrative.
Except, the ugly AMAL ALAMUDDIN who he married is not only beastly, she is from a family of terrorist linked Islamic scum.
Uncle Ziad Takkedienne is a dodgy arms dealer who made blood money supplying ISIL & Libya with weapons… prior to that he was a clerk at a small hotel.
Her other uncle Akram Minkassis another shady character who claims a rags to riches bogus alibi as a dealer in Bahrain. His son Tarek Gimpass married the daughter of slain Bulgarian Mafia criminal Ilya Pavlov.
Her walrus deluded megalomaniac mother Baria Alamuddin is a pro-PLO activist, condemning Israel.
Her father Ramzi Alamuddin is a supporter of Walid Joumblatt and Hamas.
And the ugly scum she male Amal Alamuddin is NO HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYER. She has clerked as junior counsel for the riff raff of society like Julian Assange and alleged terrorists Abdullah Al-Senoussi the Lockerbie bomber, and currently for another Muslim brotherhood accused reporter.

  • lol

Patriod does NOT marry a lawyer defending Syrian terrorists and a Libyan war criminal

    FACT:
George Clooney is a hypocrite. His handlers advised him to marry because it was 20 years since his last showbiz marriage. So, he married a grotesque Islamic Arab who looks like a transvestite in haute couture drag. So disgustingly vile with the posterior of a 3rd world prepubescent famine victim boy and emaciated male legs on a long torso. And she was chosen by his PR network of monitoring shills.
Ugly Amal Alamuddin’s manly face looks so transgender she even has a cleft chin, massive humped nose, ghoul eyes, and an Adam’s Apple. Added to that she’s pigeon-footed awkward. A real life Arab DRAG SHOW. Such an embarrassment!!
All this, because idiot George Clooney thought he’d impress the world by selling a liberal narrative… and a common Oxford 3 years degree.

Do not find Amal attractive even after her nose job. Don’t care about her looks. I agree she defends terrorists and her mum does as well.

  • Guest

well, his transvestite wife can’t do it… Buck-toothed freak with an massive overbite would bite it off.
She’s tried with all her past fetishist boyfriends.
They ran… & preserved their crown jewels.

Of course I don’t think North Korea…or anyone…should tell Sony what they can and can’t put out. But George Clooney a first amendment crusader? Oh this is rich. Remember:

#GeorgeClooney is a major reason why we are in this predicament.

George Clooney campaigned heavily for and did major fundraisers for this administration who sides with commie countries like Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea over us.

George Clooney supports web censorship with SOPA, so he is really only pro free speech if it harms an institution that he is against.

George Clooney is worried about personal medical information being shared but he forced Obamacare onto the rest of us which does just that.

George Clooney lamented the first amendment when he jumped on the “it was a youtube” video that caused a “spontaneous attack on our embassy” in Benghazi.

George Clooney is only worried about his bottom line…his bank account.

George Clooney can go f–k himself.

  • sky

LOL, where the heck do you get your info…she does did not defend assange.

  • David, San Francisco, CA

Clooney married a woman defending Assange Wiki leaks founder who is a professional hacker….georgelooney ,hypocrite ?

  • FormerLamark

It is interesting that GC “adores” and tries to defend this Amy Pascal who allegedly made racist statements about Obama (in the hacked emails) who is allegedly a “good firend” of Clooney. Georgie boy ran out of a dinner in Las Vegas in the spring, because “his friend” was scolded by a billionaire casino mogul. So what now? Money talks, dog barks even beyond the president?

  • FormerLamark

Apropo. Where is his alleged “star power”, influence at this time?

  • Doryphore

This set s a bad precedent for the future. All “hackers” have to do is threaten 9/11 style attacks and everybody will back off.
It might have been a terrible movie, but they had the right to make it and no one should be afraid to do something legal in a “free” country.
Son’y cowardice, and the cowardice of the theater chains, is pathetic.

  • a friend…

No, the loss of potential innocent lives in terrorist attacks at theatres is safeguarded. No cinema would want to screen this. Financial disaster. Other measures should have taken place in the first place. Clooney should not have been a coward years ago.

Clooney is one to talk. He married a terrorist Islamic Arab….all for the wrong reasons and he knows it.

  • Arrow 12

George isn’t a real American. He doesn’t even live here. What a loser.

  • Arrow 12

Really they should release it for free online. That would show them.

  • princefan4life

What would happen if Sony released the movie on Christmas Day, and one theater had the same kind of attack that happened in a Colorado theater showing a midnight screening of that Batman movie? A lone gunman enters the theater and kills several people. Can you imagine the outcry and anger at Sony, when they had warnings not to show the movie? The lawsuits alone would damn near bankrupt Sony. While it might be easy for everyone else to call the dead martyrs for freedom of speech in this country, their family members might have a much harder time seeing it that way.

  • Guest

Not dumb like you, fluff brain. Stick to your simpleton content: Kardashian, cupcake frostings, royal baby teething… This.

Guess I missed George’s petitions against the hackers in the cyber attacks against the banks and in the nude photo hacks. Indignation only seems appropriate when it serves George Clooney.

How about not making a movie about killing a psycho dictator with a nuclear bomb in his possession? Has any of those big ego Executives thought about that!

  • simon

Wow, why did Clooney feel the need to trash The Interview? Atleast James Franco and Seth Rogen didn’t send an email whining about their movie doing poorly like how Clooney was upset about the Monuments Men getting bad reviews. Grow up Clooney!
