  • jennyv12

i think charlie hunnam will be great as the beast

  • Me1

Someone to play a Prince? Robert Pattinson of course! Why is he not even an option here JJ? Pfft.

  • HwULkDemAppls

Henry Cavill as Gaston or Beast!

  • Ron

Jack O’Connell as Gaston but none of thsoe option seems like a good beast D:

  • Benny Ehud

How about a non-white guy for the Beast, at least? Can a non-white get a good paycheck?

  • happy666

I don’t care about the Beast. Gaston was the funniest. He looks from the Basque Country btw.
It could be played by that mexican guy who played JHos lover in the old song ‘Ain’t it funny’

  • happy666

    Id say as Beast

  • LiiL

Joe Manganiello as Gaston totally!! :D he would be the funniest

and I think Chris Pine, Ian Somerhalder as the Beast – they are pretty charming for the role.

  • Ebee

I like the idea of Joe Manganiello as Gaston. I think he has the right look and muscles for the part! I’m not sure for the beast, maybe someone not as well known as the suggestions.

  • happy666

The worst choice was Emma Watson. She doesnt look like Belle and now it will be more difficult to find a good match for her given her young looks.

  • SamJ

It should be Sam Heughan for Beast.

  • Terry Ramsey Haskins

I think Joe should be Gaston, too. Kit Harington as the beast…..mainly because I LOVE Kit Harington.

  • tia maria

Jason momoa would be great as the beast.Henry Cavill would be perfect for role of Gaston. He has both the looks and build for it.

  • aaron

I would prefer hemsworth as gaston, either him somerhalder, mardsen or Josh Hutcherson. Hutcherson would be a good beast in my mind, I know he is planning on doing more directing, but I think Chris Evans would be a good beast. Josh Dallas from once upon a time as well. And COlin odonahugh as gaston would be good, hes also from once upon a time.

  • Mary

  • Lola

OMG anyone but Jared Forehead Padalecki! And some of the guys you picked for Gaston are way too old, I love me some Tom Hiddles and James Marsden, but they look old enough to be her father.

I like the idea of a non-white dude to play the beast though.

  • Lola

I can imagine him as Gaston!

  • mandyz

or his long lost look-a-like brother Garrett Hedlund! and Hedlund can sing!

  • LaPetitMort

    Eduardo Verastegui?

  • Tina501

Wait…what? Isn’t Belle French? Why do we always have to cast a Brit? Oh…and how about cast a real singer too. Here we go with more studio edited voices lip synching oddly from the mouth of someone who cannot sing live.

  • ufo medium

Quest Leto you found IT – Belle 8
did I tell you lately that I love you X

  • ufo medium

    I’m ‘part’ French

  • Pineapple

  • Isak

Belle is supposed to be young. So is the Beast. The spell said “until his 21st birthday”, so most of the choices on here don’t really work.

  • kmoliver

These are all WAY too old! A 24-year-old woman is playing Belle, so Kit Harington is the only one remotely close enough to her age. I do like that casting, since I would imagine Emma will keep her British accent. The beast really shouldn’t be American.

  • Benny Ehud

Sort of what I thought when I read that Emma was playing Beauty.

  • Pineapple

I believe the characters name is Belle….

  • Benny Ehud

I don’t know anything about Beauty and the Beast LOL I just know white actors get all of the roles.

  • Pineapple

so you have no reason to be commenting on this movie at all that you know nothing about. Its a story about a French peasant girl in the 1700s. Doubt there were many black chicks around in France at that time….

  • Benny Ehud

It’s Hollywood. They change things all of the time. I never said the actress had to be black or even be changed.

I never said the NON-WHITE actor had to be BLACK. I specifically used the term “non-white” to refer to non-white. It went beyond black. But, with you parochial view, that’s as far as your pea-brain thought.

By the way, it’s the story of a FICTIONAL beast LOL

  • Pineapple

    lol pea brain.

If you are so high and mighty with your big brain then why are you on a gossip site commenting on posts anyway?

  • Benny Ehud

I never said I was high and mighty. There you go attributing something to me that I didn’t say.

  • Benny Ehud

I never said I was high and mighty. There you go attributing something to me that I didn’t say.

  • christine p

I think Liam Hemsworth would be better than Chris Hemsworth as beast, he’s closer in age and would better compliment Emma.

  • bigprisc

Chris Hemsworth is perfect as Beast!

  • dee

They should really just cast the Gastton from Disneyworld:

  • wutheringbites

    henry cavil!

  • Ariadne

It a crime to say at least that Henry Cavill is not on this list.He is perfect….for both roles.Look at this picture :

    The guy is perfection.

  • Ariadne

Perfect for both but i would give the ede to The Beast.

  • Sheena Fulton

Jared Padalecki for the beast because as a human, the beast has long hair & Jared does too. Also,Ian Somerhalder for Gaston because he has the looks & muscles to pull it off.

  • Nathan Forester

Bruce Campbell for Gaston. If not Bruce, I suggest Hugh Jackman since he was Gaston in the Australian version of the musical.

  • Molly

She’s going to be singing herself…

And name more than a couple actresses with French accents. Does it really matter? Belle was French in Disney’s version, but she didn’t have an accent. It’s not their fault that the better actors happen to be British. All the American actors suck now..

  • Molly

People are complaining that Emma’s too young for these actors. The prince was the only one who was young other than her. The beast can be any age – He’s a friggin beast! As far as Gaston, he wasn’t given an age, so you could really cast him any age as well. Especially considering this was 19th century France where age wasn’t really a factor in marriage.

That being said, I can see someone like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau or Jason Mamoa being cast as the Prince/Beast.
Maybe Joe Manganiello or Patrick Warburton as Gaston.

Though they’re probably going to cast young actors, so we’ll probably see Kit or someone like that in the credits.

I love Kit Harrington as much as the next girl, but I really don’t think he’d fit in as one of them…

  • Molly

Look, I’m all for casting different races in movies, but what I don’t fucking understand is why people bitch when they’re not cast in REMAKES.

It’s like the big fuss over Spiderman.
Why wasn’t Spiderman cast as a black guy? Waaaah!
Maybe that’s because in the comics, Spiderman was WHITE.

If they were going to cast a different race for the Beast, whatever. He’s going to be covered in makeup anyways. But when they switch to the Prince, he’s gotta be white. I’m sorry, but I’m not Walt Disney and I didn’t imprint beloved characters into everyone’s head who just so happen to be white.

There are plenty of other movies where minorities can be cast, but when you’re making a remake – especially one of such a beloved story as a Disney movie – keep the changes to a minimum.

I’m sick of directors changing shit in remakes for the sake of making more money or making it more ‘politically correct’.

Oh, and you’re out of your mind if you don’t think Emma Watson is the perfect Belle.

  • Benny Ehud

Hollywood changes actors to white actors all of time. GODZILLA was a series of Japanese films. They found a way to put whites in it. The Grudge was an Asian film. They figured out a way to put whites in it. The movie 21 was based off of Asian people. Hollywood loaded the film down with white people. The movie The DEPARTED was based off of an Asian novel. They found a way to load it up with white actors. THAT’S WHAT HOLLYWOOD DOES!! They change things for WHITES ALL OF THE TIME.

Actually, I don’t really care about Beauty and The Beast. But, comic books can definitely be changed. They change comic books ALL of the time. The same character will be two different things in two separate comics.

I don’t think Emma Watson is the perfect Belle. That is why I said EW!!!! LOL Emma is attractive, but she isn’t beautiful.

  • Molly

    One word.

A perfect example of how changing a beloved character’s race RUINS them.

Godzilla can’t be used as an example. That movie was shit all around.

The Departed was a remake of a Hong Kong movie, not a book. And it was remade here, where the equal to the Triad here would be either the Italian or Irish mob. There were plenty of Italian mob movies at the time, so they chose Irish.

Guess what? Irishmen are prominently white.

Saying that only white people get roles is total bullshit. I could name a ton of actors/actresses of different races that have more filmography than a leading white guy. Just because they decide to stick to the same race when doing remakes doesn’t mean all of them do.

I’m sick of people playing the race card when they’re upset over trivial matters.

  • Benny Ehud

Changing race ruins the film b/c whites don’t go see non-whites in films LOL And, Hollywood knows that. That’s why they don’t put non-whites in films. I don’t blame Hollywood. It’s about money.

White people like to see white people in films LOL That’s why the women in Will Smith’s and Denzel’s films are white. If not white, they are Latino. That’s why Will Smith’s new movie is with a white girl. They could have given that role to a non-white actress. But, if they would have, Hollywood believes they wouldn’t have made as much money.

White people get FAR more roles than non-whites LOL This isn’t even debatable. You can look at the numbers on your own. I am not going to spend anymore time on that.

The Departed was based off of ASIAN actors. They changed it to whites. They could have remade it with Asians and based it in San Francisco. NEWSFLASH: They didn’t since they wanted WHITE actors.
