Katherine Heigl Returning to TV in New CBS Legal Drama

Katherine Heigl is set to return to television in the upcoming CBS legal drama Doubt, which is being executive produced by Grey’s Anatomy‘s Tony Phelan and Joan Rater.

The 36-year-old actress will play “Sadie Ellis, a smart, chic and successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm who gets romantically involved with one of her clients who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime,” according to Variety.

The pilot was originally filmed earlier this year with KaDee Strickland in the lead role. It will be re-shot with returning cast members Laverne Cox, Dule Hill, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould, and Kobi Libii.

Laverne will play a fierce “trans Ivy League-educated lawyer who’s both competitive and compassionate. [Her] own experience with injustice causes her to fight even harder for all of her clients.”

She must have been given a long term deal back when she was famous, and they have to live up to it or pay her off. I can’t think of any other reason. I wouldn’t watch anything that she’s in! Too bad, because I really like Dule Hill.

Because a high powered defence attorney MUST be swooning over a man, even if he’s a criminal, because what else would a woman in a tv show do?
