Rosie O'Donnell's Daughter Chelsea Breaks Her Silence About Running Away in Revealing Interview

Rosie O’Donnell‘s daughter Chelsea is speaking out about what really happened when she went missing over the summer before being found in a Jersey Shore house with alleged drug user Steven Sheerer.

“She told me to leave and take my dog,” the 18-year-old said in an interview with Daily Mail. “Rosie knew I was planning to leave, that’s why I think she kicked me out. She asked me to talk about what was going on and I didn’t want to. So she asked for my phone and my computer. This was hours before she told me to leave. I gave them to her. A few hours later, she told me to leave. I wasn’t planning to go until I turned 18 on the 24th.”

“Putting out there that I am mentally ill was really hurtful. People think I’m this crazy person and as I’ve said, I have depression and bad anxiety – but it’s been something that’s gotten a lot better. But these were personal things and I didn’t want anyone to know them about me. … I wouldn’t say I’m mentally ill – I would say lots of people struggle with what I have,” Chelsea added. “‘I would have liked to have my parents more in the picture raising me instead of nannies – although my nannies are great people.”

Chelsea added she is living with Steven currently. “I guess everyone is putting out there he’s a bad guy from things that happened in the past but he’s not. She’s [Rosie's] texting me as if Steve is keeping me here and not letting me leave, which is not the case. I’m really happy to be here, and happier than I’ve been in years.”

A parent has the right to raise a child how ever they want…goin to the house of someone she met online shows that she is not mentally stable…

I’m no Rosie fan. In fact, I don’t really like her. But, I kind of feel sorry for her. I’d hate to see the kinds of things my teenager might write about me, or how many times I picked up a pizza or take out on the way home. We parents are not all perfect.

  • LincolnAG

So since “a parent has the right to raise a child how ever they want”, is it ok for a parent to abuse (physical or psycological) their child?

  • http://urbah.tumblr.com/ Uzbuz

    That’s not abuse though.
She was trying to keep her daughter safe.

  • Haven

Wasn’t she living with her birth mother? Guess that didn’t work out, so she runs to a stranger and sells her “story” to a tabloid.

    Mug shot in 3…2…

  • LincolnAG

I wasn’t talking about Rosie and her daughter, it was about the “parents can do whatever they want to their children” part :)

  • jane

i don’t think anyone could live with that hag and come out normal. some people aren’t meant to be parents or role models.

  • LL

Almost all teenagers hate their parents and wish they could move out, and everyone has a story to prove their parents are the worst. Unless there was real neglect or abuse, then this is just a hormonal teen ranting to the press. And just because a lot of people go through depression, doesn’t make it any less of a mental illness.

  • My Views

Rosie has demonstrated that she can be a handful, but I seriously think this girl walked into a more serious situation than she can imagine.

Correction, fucking dumb teenagers hate their parents.

Depression and Anxiety Disorders are mental illnesses. We had to end the stigma of mental illnesses so people we still denying they have these issues.

It’s so weird to me, why adopt a kid just to have nannies raise it? I mean, good for her for adopting, but she seems more like she just supported them financially, and nothing more.

  • Mrs.K

Daughter sounds like an entitled brat.

  • Kim

Why give birth to a kid just to have nannies raise it? What’s the difference. This is one girl’s POV.It’s possible her siblings don’t feel the same way about their parents. My next door neighbor had six kids, five grew up to be successful, productive people. One ,the second oldest boy ,is in prison. He says he had a horrible childhood, that his parents were never around, etc.Yet his siblings have a different POV of their childhood.
Chelsea was living with her birth mother in August, why did she move out.It is possible she is troubled. We don’t know

  • Dani Campos

And again he/she said “raise”, don’t change the words

  • Wendy

Well I mean, I feel the same way about having kids and the nanny thing too, but I agree, it could be a daughter just trying to make her look bad.

  • lolo

Typical teenage , mother, daughter stuff – I see it all the time, but because Rosie is famous, it somehow becomes something more!!! I applause Rosie! No mom is perfect and they do need their alone time and personal space. They make good and bad decisions, there is no handbook!

  • BluePotion

That’s nice Kim. Yes, it is mental in regards to it being a disease or disorder of the Brain. But you know what she means: Most [ignorant] people think Mental Illness means emotional disorder as in whackjob. When in fact not all brain issues are like that. Anxiety and Depression are Physical and involve Serotonin levels. Just like Heart Disease isn’t emotional just because it’s about the “heart”.

Maybe you are just speaking from personal experience.

  • BluePotion

Well clearly you are a little disrespectful yourself. Is that your parents’ fault? Sure you may not like Rosie but calling her a hag?
