'Ride Along 2' Dethrones 'Star Wars' at Weekend Box Office!
Kevin Hart and Ice Cube‘s new comedy Ride Along 2 has topped the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend’s box office with a $39.5 million haul!
According to THR, the sequel fell below the original movie’s $48.6 million debut in 2014.
Taking the second spot was Leonardo DiCaprio‘s critically-acclaimed new film The Revenant, which brought in an estimated four-day gross of $35 million.
Coming in at No. 3 was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, starring Harrison Ford, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and more, which earned an additional $32 million, bringing its domestic total to $860 million and a global total to $1.8 billion.
Rounding out the top five were John Krasinski‘s 13 Hours, and Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell‘s comedy Daddy’s Home, which earned $20 million and $10.8 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s new family film, Norm of the North, grossed an estimated $8.8 million.
