Tina Fey Calls Out 'Hollywood Bulls--t' After the Oscars

Tina Fey hits the red carpet at the premiere of her movie Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on Tuesday (March 1) at AMC Loews Lincoln Square in New York City.

The 45-year-old actress was joined at the event by her husband Jeff Richmond and her co-stars Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, and Christopher Abbott.

Other stars in attendance included Zosia Mamet (whose boyfriend Evan Jonigkeit is in the movie), Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria, Bob Saget, Tituss Burgess, and Lorne Michaels.

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show that day, Tina opened up about her time at the Oscars this past weekend.

“I’m so glad I live here [in New York City], because halfway through [the Oscars], I was like, ‘This is some real Hollywood bulls–t.’ Everyone’s telling me what to do,” Tina said. “People are yelling at me about rape and corporate greed but really it’s climate change. I was like, ‘Guys, pick a lane. Like we’re going to fix everything tonight.’ And also like, ‘You’re all rich. Why are you yelling at me about corporate greed?”

FYI: Tina is wearing a Dion Lee dress, Mariela Montiel shoes, a Roger Vivier bag, and Nina Runsdorf jewelry.

BINGO speaking truth, they can all complain, and set up their houses with all the newest things to help the enivorment, but your average person CANT, i say lets work on being better to each other, then all the other things would come in line…when you make saving a insect in the amazon more important than how you treat people, i’m sorry sooo wrong. these celebs can afford to pick & chose, we can;t.

I agree with her- it’s a show celebrating the best in film and really, it’s a very narcissistic event. Why are people going on about rape and corporate greed and global warming at an entertainment event? I get that there is a huge audience watching but those people are watching to see their favorite movie stars and what they were wearing, not to hear personal and political agendas. The agendas made the whole evening very obnoxious. Good for Tina for not being afraid to say so.

Love her. Totally agree with her insights! We watch awards shows like the Oscars to celebrate acting and film. I personally don’t want to hear your political views or your social issues. It actually ruins the show.

You go , girl! That’s the very reason that I didn’t watch. You want change (political, environmental etc.) Get off you butts and make it happen on your every day life. Quit using these venues for your agendas.

    Exactly! So annoying.

Isn’t this exactly why the Oscars hit such low ratings? People forgot what exactly they were celebrating.

It used to be that ever so often an award winner would use their speech time to bring up a social issue. While it deflated the crowd, many people respected it because they turned the spotlight from themselves to something greater.

Nowadays then EVERYONE is trying to be that person and these celebrities have somehow made charity and noble causes feel so selfish.

    - Taylor Swift donating $1989 to a charity
    - Will Smith protesting for diversity because he wasn’t nominated for an average performance
    - Jennifer Lawrence standing up for Gender Equality by complaining about her $18M per film paycheck.

I’m not trying to put these celebs down. Being in the positions they are in then they can inspire change. But it just feels like it’s more about them than for anyone else.

So is she being serious, or making a joke? I can never tell these days.
