never thought there would come a time when a woman could have her first kid at 50. kinda amazing how far we’ve come

  • xyz

    One word: surrogate

  • sydney jane

    Yep, probably.

  • sydney jane

    Yep, probably.

  • zuzuspetals

50 is too old to start having kids. I doubt she’s carrying that baby.

  • http://www.soundcloud.com/cigo8179 Christopher I. Gomes

Why did she wait so long? But I am happy for her… Wish her a happy, healthy baby.

  • Aaron s

screw you. I had twins at 48. I had cancer and had to wait years before I could start a family. Don’t judge people. You’re never too old for anything. Age is a number. There are a lot of older parents who are far better off parenting then some 20 yrs olds

  • shoes4life

Congratulations JJ! I wish you well and a healthy delivery.

  • Elisabeth

ok, so NOW I get my money back…?

  • jane

you think? didn’t halle berry have one at 49?

  • lyn

rather her than me at 50…42 was late enough for my second…she has no clue ….and she will be 70 when its coming up 20….not so great for the kid…but i guess this is how money makes stuff happen.sorry but if we women were meant to have kids at 50 we wouldnt have menopause…nature has a way of being correct and like everything else today…if its not in natures course everyone wants to change nature and its “alright” well nature is gonna get us all soon cos we have messed with it on our planet just too too much.

Believe I have read no less than three stories of women older than her carrying children. Believe at least two were carrying their own grandchildren, so it is possible for a woman to carry a child older than 50 years old.

  • Aissatou Sunjata

Lyn, granted, you were 42, some would say 42 was old to have a second child. You did it. She does not need a clue. She married a millionaire. She and her child won’t want for anything. She also has money. He, who is younger, and of a culture which prides themselves on having a son, an heir no doubt wanted a child. Some women don’t have menopause at the magic age of 50. Finally, Sarah of the bible had her first child when she was reportedly how old? She is not changing nature, she is doing what is right by her self and her husband. Everybody want to put their three cents in how someone else lives their lives, instead of living their own and if they don’t agree, at least be intelligent enough to realize they were not asked and how cares??? Her choosing (get the word now) to have a baby at her age is her choice!

  • Aissatou Sunjata

Believe some women come to their own decisions that having a baby does not define their femininity or womanhood. Others decide once they have a mate who is worthy, they will go ahead and honor him and conceive someone to carry on the genes and name of both. Having watched Janet Jackson and her brothers since she and they were children, young, I am glad that she has decided to have a child. She has had the career. She has made the money. She has married twice and this one seems to be it in terms of being a good one. He is a millionaire, so he is not after her money. She has come to a place where she can afford in money and time to have a child. Some will say she is too old. Trying to live her life through their narrow eyes and vision. Some people die young. Some people don’t die till their are 100 or more. I say, Janet Jackson may you enjoy a healthy and beautiful baby. May you live to see your child go to college, marry and honor both you, your husband and his or her Jackson legacy. It is what those who are happy in their own lives can wish no less for someone else.

  • Northguesty

Best time to have kids because you’ve probably done everything you wanted to. But if you wait this long, you should screen very carefully and make sure you’re in great health.

  • Northguesty

Berry had her child without surrogate at 46.

  • Northguesty

Totally agree. If you can manage to put it off, it’s better to be an older, wiser parent than an irresponsible younger one. Not to be ageist against young people, but older parents likely have their partying partied out of them already.

One of the Pointer sisters ( I want to say June) had twins at 50+ and carried the little ones but there was some kind of complication as they were not her own eggs. Hope I got that right! Anyway, she had a younger husband who wanted children. I say bless ‘em but it would not be for me. In my late 30′s I had a younger boyfriend but I was done (surgically and to save my life) having kids. He got all bent out of shape when he found I could not have more kids. I had five at the time ages 13, 12, 10, 5 and 4. I jokingly told him, “Just look around and find one that has your features and you’ll be okay” He didn’t find the humor in that and left me. I was happy to discover what was really important to him! (38 years ago….so I don’t care anymore!)

  • Gina

Well, technically women that age can’t conceive naturally but they can still carry a baby once they conceive through scientific means.

  • zuzuspetals

    That doesn’t make it right.

  • zuzuspetals

    Screw you too. Nasty beeyotch.

  • Kherin

If a son is so important to his culture, she probably had artificial insemination to ensure the gender of the baby.

  • Northguesty

Use your brain, why the heck would she plan to have her surrogate get pregs / give birth during a tour that she’d later have to cancel / refund / etc?

  • Northguesty

Incorrect. As long as you haven’t gone through menopause, you can conceive without IVF. Some people hit menopause post-60, so you’re assuming too much.

  • Guilherme Martinez

and why would it be wrong?

  • rg1984

    at 50…. ? wow…

  • xyz

How do u know Berry didnt use a surrogate? Because u were told so?

  • xyz

    why not?

  • xyz

So u were close to her and knew all about it?

  • Dee

    Not her first kid….

  • Gina

Well, in Janet’s case, I’m not assuming too much. Like you said yourself, some people hit menopause post-60 and Janet’s not there yet so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt. Many of the women in my family who are in their 50′s are still getting regular periods. So I think you’re assuming too little.

  • Delores Pauldo

    True.

  • Delores Pauldo

But don’t she have another child somewhere? Someone mention she have another child. If she does it’s her 2 child with a rich guy. Not saying anything about the other one. She still should had the baby while she was in her 30a not nearly 50.She still going to try and work afterward cancelling her your for now. Also the man has money so why she still wants to work? She knew better to get pregnant this late in life.Suppose to have grandkids by now.

  • Janet Williams

Great! Another Jackson trainwreck on the way. Can’t wait to see how disturbed this one turns out to be.

  • Pinky

Talk about conspiracy theories. The woman didn’t want anymore kids. I believe things where there’s evidence – Beyonce gave PLENTY of that. But this? Zero evidence. She didn’t care about her image so why would she even bother pretending it natural birth. How are things in lala land anyway?

  • Pinky

“Technically women that age can’t conceive naturally”

Assuming? Not too sure what you meant by this then. You just said people that age have to have medical help to get pregnant. You’re confused.

  • Gina

Carrying a baby is NOT the same as conceiving one in the first place. You’re the one that’s confused. Some women need help conceiving, while having no problem carrying the baby to term.

Again, a direct quote: “”Technically women that age can’t conceive naturally”

Do you understand you said that? Just forget about the carrying baby thing. We’re talking about conceiving. Your own post, which you can read right up there, cannot be interpreted in any way except as saying no one that age can conceive without medical help. Hello? Is this computing?

I know exactly what I said, honey. And I said it with the assumption that menopause is at play. But I also clearly stated in another comment that there are exceptions, like the women who have not yet undergone menopause. Keep up, darling. Do I really have to break it down for you? Some things just go without saying.

  • Pinky

Can I award you for the back-peddle of the century? Because this kind of stuff can’t go unawarded! Quality, real quality. You have problems with basic reading and comprehension. Here’s a tip: don’t share your thoughts if you have zero clue what you’re talking about.

  • Aaron s

Go eat a hot soup sandwich, troll. Learn to talk about things you know about, rather than judge people about things you have no clue about.

  • zuzuspetals

    nasty beeyotch still I see.

  • Aaron s

You clearly need a life, zu zu’s petals. Go watch another showing of “it’s a wonderful life” and stifle yourself, Edith
