ACLU Raises $24 Million in Donations After Trump's Travel Ban

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has raised an incredible amount of money this weekend following President Trump‘s announcement of the immigration ban, which has been referred to as a “Muslim Ban.”

The organization announced that more than $24 million was raised from 356,306 donors since Saturday. Two-thirds of the people who made donations are believed to be first-timer donors, according to the New York Times.

“The response from the public has been remarkable,” the organization’s executive director Anthony Romero said. “It clearly shows that people are exercised over the proposed policies of Donald Trump.”

“Clearly, this executive order has hit a live nerve with the American people,” he added.

Lots of celebs rallied support for the ACLU and announced their own donations this weekend.
