Milla Jovovich Had a 'Horrific' Abortion Experience Two Years Ago

Milla Jovovich is opening up to fans about the “horrific” abortion experience she had two years ago.

The 43-year-old Resident Evil actress decided to speak out in response to the new abortion bill signed into law in Georgia, outlawing all abortions after six weeks.

“I don’t like to get political and I try to only do it if a really have to and this is one of those times. If someone doesn’t want to continue reading, you have been warned,” Milla wrote on her Instagram account. “Our rights as women to obtain safe abortions by experienced doctors are again at stake. Last Tuesday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a draconian bill into law that outlaws all abortions after six weeks — before most women even realize they’re pregnant — including in cases of RAPE OR INCEST.”

“This makes Georgia the sixth state to pass such a restrictive six-week abortion ban, joining Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, Iowa, and North Dakota. These laws haven’t been passed yet, but lawmakers in these states are trying. Abortion is hard enough for women on an emotional level without having to go through it in potentially unsafe and unsanitary conditions,” Milla continued. “I myself went through an emergency abortion 2 years ago. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant and shooting on location in Eastern Europe. I went into pre term labor and told that I had to be awake for the whole procedure.”

“It was one of the most horrific experiences I have ever gone through. I still have nightmares about it. I was alone and helpless. When I think about the fact that women might have to face abortions in even worse conditions than I did because of new laws, my stomach turns,” Milla wrote. “I spiraled into one of the worst depressions of my life and had to work extremely hard to find my way out. I took time off of my career. I isolated myself for months and had to keep a strong face for my two amazing kids. I started gardening, eating healthier and going to the gym everyday because I didn’t want to jump into taking anti depressants unless I had tried every other alternative.”

“Thank God I was able to find my way out of that personal hell without turning to medication, but the memory of what I went through and what I lost will be with me till the day I die. Abortion is a nightmare at its best. No woman wants to go through that. But we have to fight to make sure our rights are preserved to obtain a safe one if we need to. I never wanted to speak about this experience. But I cannot remain silent when so much is at stake,” she wrote.

A baby, what an inconvenience when you are shooting on location Shameful, when laws are made to allow women to murder their children; sadly, the children are not given the same opportunity to life; as humans we could learn so much from animals who die to protect their young

Reading and comprehension skills, seriously. She had an EMERGENCY abortion because she went into preterm labour.
Not sure what does she mean by “Eastern Europe” but if it’s Ukraine/Belarus, I pity her. Medical care there is awful, the hospitals are horrible, most of the doctors are nasty and seem to hate women.

Do all those republicans actually care about babies ?
I’m not from the US but arent they the same one that dont like universal social security that helps having healthy babies and healthy parents ?
The handsmaid’s tale isnt all fiction after all. Its always men telling women how to procreate and when. A shame.

  • namers

It is scary to watch and not that far removed from us.

Sending women back 50 years. Shame shame shame on the patriarchy. Wait until one of theirs is brutally raped.

Abortion laws were always meant to be a state’s issue. It never should have been a federal law, regardless of political party. As for your question about Republicans, you might also ask why there is so much poverty and crime in cities run by Democrat leadership.

  • KS_in_TP

Why do you pro-choicers always act SO SHOCKED that there are literally millions of people in America who don’t think killing unborn babies is a good thing? And not just in America, but all around the world.

  • cutitout

They only care bout babies until they are born. Their stance on funding welfare, education, healthcare, etc. pretty much prove that.

  • cutitout

The reason why there is so much poverty and crime in those places is because they have more people, while republican areas are not as populated and people can be completely wrapped up in their delusions about how the world works because they do not have to live and work as closely with people who have differing views. its simple math actually….And republican areas have their fair share of poverty and crime but no one hears about it because nobody cares about what happens in the backwoods.

  • cutitout

Those people do not have to have abortions if they do not want to. Nobody said it was a good thing either, Its not a good thing to amputate a gangrenous arm either but it is what is in the best interest of the free, human being that should have the right to make decisions about their own body.

  • cutitout

It was not her choice to have an abortion, it was a medical necessity, you moron. She went into pre term labor at 4 months…. The fetus did not even have fully formed organs at that point.

  • LindSAY

I want to stay on the abortion topic. I’m not educated enough on the US economy to debate over who did worse on what nor do I care. I care about women rights to their body because I can relate as a woman.
Why is it so awfull to some americans the idea of women taking ownership of their body ?
Why would they make a law like that knowing they dont want universal social security, when you dont have even a 3 month maternity leave at a federal level ( in my country its up to 1 with full pay to 3 years with half the pay).
How are poor women supposed to get their hands on contraceptions with the insurance preniums that you have ? Or they just supposed to not have sex ? Or put it god’s hands à la handsmaid’s tale “may the lord open” ??
You have a system in place that contradict itself.
Lets not act as if adoptions is a solutions since we are talking about a baby. While you abort cells that could turn into a baby yes but you could also miscarry.
Lets first take care of the living beings on this earth.

  • LindSAY

It does seems that way. I would be so infuriated if that happened in my country.
It feels like the start of Gilead really.

  • KS_in_TP

The fact that you insist on comparing this very serious topic to a fictional TV show says a lot. Look, the abortion debate has been going since before Roe vs Wade (which, BTW, was predicated on a rape hoax). And it will always be a topic of debate. The fact is, abortion stops a beating heart, and all the screaming about “body ownership” will not change the hearts and minds that believe it is morally abhorrent and evil to take an innocent human life. Period.

Wisper, you’re an idiot. You’re not even able to read.
She said it was an emergency abortion because she went into preterm labor.

  • laura

Which btw is also proof that not all fetuses are here to live. AT this stage they aren’t fully real persons. A lot of things could still stop them from becoming persons, which means that abortion is not killing a person.
