Awkwafina Shows 'Kimmel' Her Aunt's Bonkers Response To Her Golden Globe Nomination!

Awkwafina paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night (December 12) and revealed that she was totally unaware of her Golden Globe nomination at first for Farewell.

The 31-year-old actress told Kimmel she was unaware of her nomination because she was fast asleep when the announcement came: “I had Korean barbecue the night before and it was very rich, so I fell asleep,” she said. “I woke up and I saw, like, a flurry of messages kind of as I was waking up and I was like, ‘Someone died.’”

Awkwafina then showed Kimmel some texts from a group chat called “Awkwafina Fan Club” that was full of congratulatory texts, except for one particular text from her Aunt Linda, who had something far more pressing on her mind than the Golden Globes.

“My Aunt Linda is a little bit of a nut,” Awkwafina said to Jimmy, who agreed that “there’s always an Aunt Linda and she’s always a nut,” before reading Linda‘s text.

“Seriously fam, curb yourself of gluten, grains and beans. Read up on lectin and how it poisons your body over time. And we all need to try intermittent fasting. Do the 16 hour fast and try to eat 1 meal a day. Or day every other day,” Linda‘s text read. “And cut out corn and soy even the organic kind. The seeds are all gmo.”

Awkwafina also talked about her new movie Jumanji: The Next Level, what she’s getting her parents for Christmas, and what it’s like being a new homeowner.
