Meghan Markle Felt 'Unprotected' By Royal Family, Court Documents Reveal

Court documents revealed how Meghan Markle really felt during her time pregnant with her first child, Archie, with her husband Prince Harry.

The pregnancy occurred from 2018-2019, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were still part of the royal family.

“[Meghan Markle] had become the subject of a large number of false and damaging articles by the U.K. tabloid media, specifically by the [Mail on Sunday], which caused tremendous emotional distress and damage to her mental health,” court documents read (via E! News). “As her friends had never seen her in this state before, they were rightly concerned for her welfare, specifically as she was pregnant, unprotected by the Institution and prohibited from defending herself.”

Documents added, “It was mandated by the KP Communications Team that all friends and family of [Meghan] should say ‘no comment’ when approached by any media outlet, despite misinformation being provided to UK tabloids about [Meghan].”

Prince Harry and Meghan are suing Mail on Sunday and Associated Newspapers for breach of privacy, misuse of private information, and copyright infringement. It is thought the lawsuit came about after the Duchess’ private letter to her father Thomas Markle was published by the tabloid.
