George Clooney Was Hospitalized With Pancreatitis While Filming 'The Midnight Sky'

George Clooney has opened up about filming on The Midnight Sky for Netflix and revealed that he was admitted to the hospital during it.

The 59-year-old actor was speaking to The Mirror (via Today) during promotion for the film and opened up about how losing the 30 pounds for his role in it, caused him to be admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis.

While recovered now, George shared that he “was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself.”

If you are unaware, acute pancreatitis is a disease in which the pancreas becomes inflamed. Symptoms range from mild discomfort to a severe, life-threatening illness.

“It took a few weeks to get better and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy,” George added. “We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder to work. But it certainly helped with the character.”

The Midnight Sky centers on Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

The movie will debut on Netflix on December 23. See the latest trailer here!
