Tom Brokaw Is Retiring from NBC News After 55 Years

Tom Brokaw has announced that he will be retiring from NBC News after spending 55 years at the network.

The 80-year-old journalist served as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News from 1982 until 2004 and he has been part of the NBC News family in all the years since then.

Brokaw, who has been with NBC News since 1966, has also served as an anchor on Today and Meet the Press in the past.

“During one of the most complex and consequential eras in American history, a new generation of NBC News journalists, producers and technicians is providing America with timely, insightful and critically important information, 24/7. I could not be more proud of them,” he said in a statement.

The network says that Brokaw will continue to write books and be active in print journalism.
