Britney Spears' Dad Loses Bid to Be Her Sole Conservator, Judge Overrules His Request
There’s a big update on the #FreeBritney movement after today’s court hearing about Britney Spears‘ conservatorship.
Britney‘s dad Jamie Spears objected to the appointment of Bessemer Trust Co. as the co-conservator of the singer’s estate, which happened back in November. During that same hearing, the judge denied Britney‘s request to have her father removed from the conservatorship entirely.
In a hearing on Thursday (February 11), the subject was a proposed order from Britney‘s attorney that put the new co-conservatorship into effect.
Jamie‘s lawyer objected to the co-conservatorship because it “improperly reduced his powers over his daughter’s estate,” according to Variety. The judge overruled the objections.

Britney‘s lawyer said that the new order gives Jamie and Bessemer “an equal division of responsibility, in the hopes that they would sit down and figure out together the best way to handle this complex estate for the benefit of my client.”
The lawyer added, “It’s no secret that my client does not want her father as co-conservator, but we recognize that removal is a separate issue.”
Britney‘s fans were outside of the courthouse during the hearing and you can see those photos in the gallery. There is even more interest in the hearings after the release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which examines the conservatorship.
