Lady Gaga went to college at NYU and studied at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts and one of her classmates was Carly Waddell, who later achieved fame as part of Bachelor Nation.

For those who don’t know, Carly was a contestant on season 19 of The Bachelor and later appeared on season two of Bachelor in Paradise. She then appeared again on season three of Bachelor in Paradise, during which she met Evan Bass and got engaged to him. They were married in a televised wedding ceremony in 2017 and had two kids together, but then split in December 2020.

Bachelor Nation’s Carly Waddell and Evan Bass revealed their divorce last month, and now, she’s speaking out about what happened.

“We separated the day after Thanksgiving. We’ve been going to therapy for years,” Carly said in a video posted to her YouTube channel. “… We tried. We tried, y’all, for a really long time to make it work. We went to therapy.”

“We focused a lot more on the kids than we focused on ourselves. And, ultimately, I think that was probably our biggest downfall was that the kids kinda came at the top of the pyramid and we never put ourselves at the top/ If you don’t have a foundation for yourself, then you crumble. The last two years have just been really hard. We’ve been trying to figure it out and trying, trying, trying,” she said.

“I always told him that if he wanted out then it was his call, because I am just a person who would never be out,” she said. “What are you going to do? [If] somebody doesn’t want to be with you, they don’t want to be with you.”

She then told the story of what happened.

“We actually put three offers on houses in 2020 and every single offer fell through, which was really sad… The last one fell through [because] there was this horrible foundation problem in the basement… That was in, like, October,” she added. “And then I found this house and Evan told me to buy it, so I did. And then he told me he didn’t want to live in it. So here we are. It’s a new year.”

“We have made the difficult decision to separate,” Carly, 35, and Evan, 38, said to People. “We will always cherish our time together and continue to have the utmost respect for one another as we focus on what’s best for the future of our family. We greatly appreciate everyone’s love and support and kindly ask that you please respect our family’s privacy as we navigate through this.”

The couple met on Bachelor in Paradise in 2016 and wed the following year. The couple are parents to son Charles “Charlie” Wolf. 13 months, and daughter Isabella “Bella” Evelyn, 2. You can see their wedding photos right here.

The 34-year-old and 36-year-old reality stars welcomed their son Charles “Charlie” Wolfe Bass on Tuesday (November 12).

“Delivery was fast and perfect and straight into Mommy’s arms. He is super healthy and everyone is doing well!” Evan told People.

Carly and Evan met while filming Bachelor in Paradise and tied the knot in August of 2017. They are already parents to one-year-old Isabella.

Evan also has three children – Nathan, Liam, and Ensley – from a previous relationship.

The Bachelor in Paradise couple, who got married last June after falling in love on the show’s third season, welcomed their daughter into the world on Thursday (February 15).

Isabella weighed in at 6 lbs., 8 oz. and measured in at 18 and 3/4 inches long.

“It was a perfect birth, no problems at all. We were supposed to induce her today but Carly’s water broke 15 minutes before our alarm went off so Bella is setting her own birthday!” Evan said in a statement to People. “Carly is recovering well and the baby has had her eyes open for hours. I cried a lot during the birth! We are smitten and cannot stop kissing, cuddling and adoring her.”

Evan has three children – Nathan, Liam, and Ensley – from a previous relationship.

The couple met on the set of Bachelor in Paradise and were married by Chris Harrison back in June.

“We are so happy to be expanding our family as we welcome Baby Bass in 2018,” the couple told People.

Evan has three kids from a previous relationship: Nathan, Liam and Ensley. Evan was featured on JoJo‘s season of The Bachelorette and Carly was featured on Chris Soules‘ season of The Bachelor.
