Colin Trevorrow Responds to 'Book of Henry's Negative Reviews

The reviews for Colin Trevorrow‘s new drama The Book of Henry were very negative and now the director is speaking out about the criticism of the film.

“It’s a little heartbreaking, without getting too personal, and I think it’s just because it came to us as a bit of a shock,” the director said in an interview with Empire magazine‘s podcast. “We screened this movie to so many people, and we’d had reactions from so many people that we felt we knew what we had and we knew how it was affecting the audiences. And that actually hasn’t changed.”

While critics panned the movie, audiences are connecting with it and the film has a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to the 22% rotten score from critics.

“It affects audiences in the same way that we thought it would. We did not anticipate that level of vitriolic dislike for the film. And in the end, do I want to be somebody who can please both audiences and critics? Absolutely. So is that hugely disappointing? It is,” Colin added.

Colin directed the massive hit movie Jurassic World and his next movie is Star Wars: Episode IX, which has not yet started filming.

“I’m not going to say this is some kind of movie of the future. It’s not that. But I do believe in what I did, and I hope as people see it some of that will become evident,” he added about The Book of Henry.

Josh Gad Continues to Trick Daisy Ridley Into Spilling 'Star Wars' Secrets, Enlists Chris Pratt & More! (Video)

Josh Gad is totally relentless with his attempts to get Daisy Ridley to spill on The Last Jedi.

The 35-year-old actor – and huge Star Wars fan – has been trying for weeks to get Daisy, 24, to give away some spoilers from her upcoming film.

Today, Josh brought Daisy into a room with some of their other Murder On The Orient Express co-stars, as well as Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Star Wars: Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow, and more!

“This has been a battle of attrition,” Josh captioned the Instagram video he shared (below). “#Daisyridley has been a force to be reckoned with. In many ways she is the Vader to my Luke or the Taylor to my Katy. But like any good opponent, I have tried to outmaneuver her at every turn. This will be her final judgement. May the force be with her, because kids, she is going to need it. All I ask is that you don’t ruin the surprise for others. #TheLastJedi #starwars #broughtsomefriendsalongfortheride.”

Watch below to see who else questioned Daisy and find out if she cracked!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, and Murder on the Orient Express arrives on November 22.

J.J. recently opened up on if the pressure of the film is getting to him.

“Sure, but here we are. It’s like I’m standing at the doorway of the airplane door and we’re about to open the door,” J.J. told the LA Times. “Do I hope the parachute opens? Yes. But every time I feel remotely paralyzed by the noise or anticipation or expectation of it, I just look at the work I’ve seen done and I’m just grateful.”

'Star Wars' Brings on New Director, Gets Disney Theme Parks

A lot of major Star Wars news was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday (August 15), including who will direct the upcoming film Star Wars: Episode IX.

Colin Trevorrow, who helmed this year’s blockbuster mega-hit Jurassic World, will be directing the film due in theaters in 2019.

“This is not a job or an assignment. It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople,” Colin said in a statement. “We’ve been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had”a mythology to call their own. We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention and hope.”

It was also revealed that Star Wars Lands will be added to Disney Theme Parks in California and Florida!

“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said. “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
