Uma Thurman wears one of the famous hats while reading the beloved book “Cat in the Hat” on NEA’s Read Across America Day on Friday (March 1) at the New York Public Library in New York City.

The 42-year-old actress was joined at the event by Wizards of Waverly Place actor Jake T. Austin.

“As a mother of three, with one now a teenager, I’ve seen the benefits of reading to and with my children throughout the span of childhood,” Uma told the NEA. “Reading has helped develop my children and my family. Spending that time together means so much.”

Selena Gomez and head Oompa Loompa Donny Davis celebrate her on-screen brother Jake T. Austin‘s 16th birthday at David Arquette and Jeff Beacher‘s Madhouse held at The Roosevelt Hotel on Saturday (December 4) in Hollywood, Calif.

Jake‘s on-screen brother David Henrie, Jaden Smith, and Kyle Massey all came out for the big birthday bash.

All of the guests enjoyed a pair of Onitsuka Tiger kicks, Sprinkles cupcakes, pizza and drinks at the celebration — and some dances from the Oompa Loompas, burlesque dancers, and Alvin and the Chipmunks!
