NYPD Blue is possibly returning to television…in the form a sequel series!
The network has made a pilot production commitment for a sequel to the original series, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Wednesday (October 17).
The new series will reportedly follow Andy Spiowicz’s (original star Dennis Franz) son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father’s murder.
NYPD Blue originally ran from 1993 to 2005, airing across 261 episodes on ABC.
Matt Olmstead (Chicago PD) will write the script along with Nick Wootton, who worked on the original ABC series.
