The first trailer for Top of the Lake: China Girl just debuted online!

The show brings back Elisabeth Moss as Detective Robin Griffin and welcomes new cast member Nicole Kidman, as well as Game of Thrones‘ Gwendoline Christie.

Here’s a synopsis, from Deadline: Detective Robin Griffin (Moss) recently has returned to Sydney and is trying to rebuild her life. When the body of an Asian girl washes up on Bondi Beach, there appears little hope of finding the killer, until Griffin realizes “China Girl” didn’t die alone. The detective looks to the investigation to restore herself, but her problems are personal. Haunted by a daughter given up at birth, Griffin desperately wants to find her but dreads revealing the truth of her conception. But her search to discover “China Girl’s” identity will take her into the city’s darkest recesses and closer than she could have imagined to the secrets of her own heart.

Nicole Kidman has another television project in the works as she has joined the cast of Top of the Lake season two!

The Oscar-winning actress will star alongside Elisabeth Moss in the Sundance Channel/BBC Two series.

The new season is titled Top of the Lake: China Girl and follows Elisabeth‘s character “Detective Robin Griffin investigating the case of an unidentified body which washes up on Sydney’s Bondi Beach,” according to Deadline.

Nicole just wrapped filming on the HBO mini-series Big Little Lies.

“I am very excited to be coming home to work with darling friend Jane Campion, whose work I ­respect and admire,” Nicole told The Daily Telegraph. “I’m also so happy to be joining the ­incredible Elisabeth Moss.”
