Madison Beer Interview – JustJared.com Exclusive!

Just Jared: Hi Madison! Thanks again for doing the JJ shoot with us. How was your Halloween?

MB: Oh my gosh, the shoot was much fun. For Halloween, I was a rabbit, a little rabbit, me and my friend. We just went trick or treating, got some candy.

JJ: Congratulations on all of your music success lately. How has Justin Bieber changed the game for you?

MB: It’s insane. It’s ridiculous, I don’t really know how to explain it. Justin’s great. He’s just been so supportive, he’s been there for me a lot, and he’s just helped so much with everything so I’m really grateful for that.

JJ: Is Justin like an older brother to you at this point?

MB: Yeah! It’s even crazy hearing people say that, because I literally love him, I always have. I always was such a big fan, so now when people say, “Oh, is he like a big brother to you?” I’m like…uh, yes?! He’s kind of like a mentor to me. He’s there for me a lot and just supportive.

JJ: Do you guys ever tease each other or play pranks on each other?

MB: Yeah, sometimes! Like, if we see each other at a concert we won’t say hi to each other then (later) we will. Things like that, we’ll mess with each other. We don’t pull pranks on each other but that will probably happen sooner or later.

JJ: What’s your favorite memory of you and Justin?

MB: Meeting him, I think. Actually, no! My favorite memory of us is when he pulled me on stage for my birthday. I think that is just something I will remember every single little detail of like what led up to it, and when I was on stage with him. Just every little thing about it, I’ll always remember.

JJ: Have you been in the studio creating new music?

MB: Yeah! I’m actually in the studio now. I’m just trying to get an album or a single ready for 2014. It’s all really exciting, I’ve just been working really hard trying to get a lot of stuff done.

JJ: Are there any exciting collaborations with new or old artists?

MB: No! Hopefully there will be someone on the album, or for a single, but not as of now. There’s no one we’ve set. We’ve talked about a few people, but not really anyone to collab with yet. Hopefully soon though, because I’ve always wanted to do a collab with someone.

JJ: I’m sure there will be. How would you describe your sound?

MB: I think that my sound is pop with a little R&B vibe to it.

JJ: What musicians inspire you the most?

MB: I think that Justin is really such a big inspiration to me. Because he did come from YouTube as well, and I’ve really looked up to him from when he released his movie, Never Say Never, I’ve followed everything he did and I’ve always really admired him for it.

JJ: What would you say are the five most played songs on your iPod right now?

MB: Hmm, oh my gosh. This isn’t in order, this is just 5 top songs. 1 is The Love Club by Lorde, that song I love, such a good song. I love the Drake album. Um, I’m trying to think! I have too many… Rihanna! Anything Rihanna, I’m constantly playing. I love Avicii. Ariana Grande‘s new album… just that kind of stuff.

JJ: What is your favorite album that’s recently been released?

MB: I think that I really like Tori Kelly‘s EP. It wasn’t an album, but it was her EP. So I’ve been obsessed with all of her new stuff, everything she’s released I’ve loved. I’m such a big fan of hers. (JJ Fun Fact: Tori is also a Justin artist!)

JJ: What’s your favorite memory of Ariana?

MB: I think meeting her was really crazy, and then when we got to hang out one time when she was at an interview. I got to go say hey to her and it was literally so insane! I was so excited and happy because she’s the sweetest, and cutest, and hysterical, I love her! I’ve always been a huge, huge fan of hers. So the fact that we talked… she’s awesome.

JJ: Would you ever do a song with her?

MB: I would love to do a song with her! I’ve always said, “Oh my gosh, how cool would that be?” I’ve always tried to push that in because I love her so much!

JJ: Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving yet?

MB: I’m going to go home and spend it with my family in New York and my friends. We might possibly go to Florida for a couple of days, my whole family and I, but for now I’m just going to New York and I’m just going to hang out. I’m really excited because going to New York is always something I look forward to. It’s just always going to be home.

JJ: What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?

MB: I don’t know how many years ago it was, but when I was like seven to nine years old, we were at my aunt’s house, I have two aunts so, not aunt Mindy, but I was at Jen’s house. She was making sweet potatoes and marshmallows? She was making those and she completely burned them and they went up in flames! So we were all at her house and it was just the funniest thing! At first it was really scary, we were all screaming and freaking out, and me being like a little seven year old just screaming and staring at it and running out of the house. It was just hysterical, I will literally never forget that. We tried to air it out but it ended up going down because we threw water on it, so we didn’t have sweet potatoes and marshmallows that year, but it was really funny.

JJ: Who are some of your favorite young actors right now?

MB: I love Evan Peters from American Horror Story. I love him! I’m trying to think of more, I know that there’s more but I can’t really think of any right now.

JJ: Well that’s all the questions we have for you, thank you so much! I hope everything’s going well in the studio, and we can’t wait to hear your music. Take care!

MB: Oh my gosh, thank you so, so much! Bye!
