Meryl Streep Will Receive Icon Award at Palm Springs Festival

Meryl Streep takes a break from her press duties for her new movie August: Osage County to do some holiday shopping on Thursday afternoon (December 19) in New York City.

The 64-year-old three-time Oscar-winning actress was just announced as the Icon Award winner at next month’s 25th Palm Springs International Film Festival.

“We’re overjoyed to recognize Meryl Streep for yet another Oscar-worthy performance in August: Osage County,” said festival chairman Harold Matzner in a statement. “Meryl Streep‘s portrayal of Violet Weston, the matriarch of a dysfunctional family reunited by a tragic incident, will be remembered in her long list of iconic character roles.”
