The indie flick tells the true story of Lance Corporal Martz‘s job as a leader of a Female Engagement Team, assigned to gain the trust of Afghan women by teaching them skills to become independent while also secretly collecting information about their Taliban husbands.

On top of that, she faces an internal war as she hides the fact that she is a gay woman in the military and struggles with her duties and her allegiance to the Afghan women she grows to admire.

Ellen can next be seen on the big screen in Freeheld, in theaters October 2.
