President Obama Awards Barbra Streisand & Steven Spielberg with Presidential Medal of Freedom!
President Obama presents Barbra Streisand with the Presidential Medal of Freedom during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House on Tuesday (November 24) in Washington, DC.
The 54-year-old President presented the medal to thirteen living and four posthumous pioneers in science, sports, public service, human rights, politics and arts including Barbra, Steven Spielberg, Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan.
“[Barbra] has collected just about every honor and award that there is – I couldn’t believe she hadn’t gotten this one,” Obama expressed at the ceremony (via EW). “Off the stage, she has been a passionate advocate for issues like heart disease and women’s equality, I’m getting all verklempt just thinking about it.”
