Audra McDonald Honored at New Dramatists Luncheon

Audra McDonald wears a beaming grin as she arrives at the New Dramatists Annual Luncheon on Thursday (May 12) at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.

The Broadway icon was joined by stage stars including Lupita Nyong’o at the luncheon.

Audra was toasted by her fellow stage actors, including her Shuffle Along co-star Brian Stokes Mitchell.

“The boundless career forged by Audra McDonald’s drive to explore all the places her creative impulses lead, and the passion with which she has pursued her art is kindred to the playwrights working at New Dramatists and makes her an ideal honoree for our spring luncheon,” said Emily Morse, artistic director of New Dramatists (via Theater Mania).
