Conor McGregor Investigated for Sexual Assault Allegation

Conor McGregor is under investigation.

The 30-year-old Ultimate Fighting Championship star is being investigated in Ireland after a woman accused him of sexual assault in December, according to a new report on Tuesday (March 26) by the New York Times.

Conor was arrested in January, and then questioned by authorities and released pending the investigation according to the report.

The accuser is a woman in her twenties who claims she was with friends in South Dublin before ending up at the Beacon Hotel. She reportedly went to police and filed a report, and was then taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated in the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit, according to local reports.

On the same day as the investigation was reported by the New York Times, Conor announced his retirement, but a spokesperson said it was unrelated to the investigation.

“This story has been circulating for some time and it is unclear why it is being reported now. The assumption that the Conor retirement announcement today is related to this rumor is absolutely false,” the rep said in a statement.
