Awkwafina's Grandmother Skipped Out On Last 10 Minutes of Her Movie 'The Farewell'

Awkwafina paid a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night (July 16) and dished all about her new movie The Farewell.

The 30-year-old actress talked about how one of the theaters showing a screening shut down on Saturday night because of the New York City blackout, so the audience missed the “excruciatingly important” last few minutes of the film.

Awkwafina also revealed her grandmother skipped out on the last ten minutes of The Farewell because it was time to cook dinner.

“We were watching it and like at the most pivotal part, 5 or 10 minutes before the end of the movie, she got up,” Awkwafina recalled. “I’m sitting there tearing up and was like, ‘grandma where are you going?’, and she was like, ‘I gotta go cook, it’s 5′”

The Farewell is also one of the best reviewed movies of the year. It has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!
