Marvel's Thanos Creator Calls Donald Trump 'Pompous Fool' Following Controversial Re-Election Campaign Video

Donald Trump and his team are comparing the President of the United States to Marvel super-villian, Thanos.

@TrumpWarRoom, the verified account managed by the President’s 2020 re-election campaign, posted a campaign video on Twitter on Tuesday (December 10).

“House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want. President Trump‘s re-election is inevitable,” they captioned the video.

The video features Trump‘s head superimposed onto Thanos as he delivers his famous “I am inevitable” line from Avengers: Endgame before snapping his fingers. Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are then turned to dust in the edited clip.

Spoiler alert: Marvel fans have pointed out that the campaign video doesn’t even actually make sense, as Thanos is promptly defeated following that part of the film.

Jim Starlin, the creator of Thanos, expressed his disapproval in an interview with THR hours later.

โ€œAfter my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer. How sick is that? These are sad and strange times we are going through. Fortunately all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end,” he said.
