Will Ferrell Set To Star in 'Legend of Cocaine Island' Feature Film

Will Ferrell has signed on to star in the feature film adaption of The Legend of Cocaine Island, Deadline reports.

The upcoming movie is based on Netflix’s documentary of the same name.

In the documentary, a small-business owner and family man comes across the legend of a buried stash of cocaine worth $2 million hidden in the Caribbean.

Having been wiped out during the Great Recession, he hatches a plan to retrieve the buried loot, using the talents of a band of colorful misfits. But without prior drug-running experience, trouble ensues.

In addition to starring in the film, Will is also set to produce the movie along with Jessica Elbaum, David Permut, documentary director Theo Love, and Bryan Storkel. Peter Steinfeld will write the script.
